Just wondering if anyone has heard anymore about who is picking up travel packages to Honduras from Toronto. Does anyone know when the next batch of travel catalogues come out? Thanks |

I am wondering the same thing.Interested in going to Roatan in February, and I have seen nothing even remotely close to a package anywhere! I have seen some vacations to La Ceiba so far… We would be leaving from Montreal.. |

I think the travel agencies normally start advertising Honduras around late summer or early Autumn, September time (ish).I have not heard who is picking up Honduras yet either, looking forward to going back again in March though !!Wossa….. ;D |

I sure hope that someone picks it up. Maybe someone from Air Canada Vacations will read this and decide that they should pick up where Conquest left off. A nice cushy flight with TV’s on the seat ahead of you and 100 lb luggage capacity sounds real good about now.

I’d be good with WestJet too ! Any carrier would be good, direct flight out of Calgary would be perfect too…. Come on tour operators / airlines !
I did hear that Sunquest or Sunwing was negotiating with the A/I’s in La Ceiba but that was about 2 months ago and nothing since !

Well, certainly, any tour operator would be remiss not to consider picking up the Honduras charters with direct flights from at least but not limited to Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and perhaps Halifax?
(This sounds like a Christmas wish list:)

I stopped in at a T.A. yesterday and picked up the new 2009-2010 vacation books. I have AC, Sunwing, HolaSun, and Sunquest. None of them will be picking up Honduras. The rest of the books will be out August 19th so I will stop back in then and see if anyone is picking up Honduras. The T.A. said Air Transit may pick up Honduras but if they do not then the flight to Honduras will have to be taken from Miami. Apparently there are flights going from Toronto to Miami daily. If no one picks up the flights direct from Canada then you will have to visit a T.A. and get them to make you up a package with flight and accommodations separate. I am sure the cost will be much higher doing it this way.We have been to Roatan 3 years in a row and I will certainly miss the awesome diving if no one picks up the flights from Toronto.Freedom Ryder 8-)……………… |

I think Honduras has been picked up by Sunwing as it is now advertised on YTT….maybe they picked it up too late to get it into their brochures. Unfortunately Sunwing may of only picked up La Ceiba as there is no mention of Roatan… Hopefully Roatan will come on line over the next few days ?
Wossa… ;D

Wossa checked it out further and apparently Sunwing will fly into Roatan Honduras. He said the HM is priced at $500.00 more than we paid for it last year.
We hope the prices come down a bit more before March.

Wow, that’s quite a price hike from last year. We would really love to go back but not at those prices!…..well half the fun of vacation is picking out new spots – so back to the drawing board.

We will be watching the prices as well – we are planning for the week after Easter – April 3rd or so.

Sunwing Vacations has unveiled its newest destinations for winter 2009-10 — La Ceiba and Roatan in Central America. Roatan Island, the largest of the Caribbean’s Bay Islands, has a reputation as a haven for water sports enthusiasts. Sunwing will feature six hotels in Roatan, ranging from 3 to 4.5 stars and including the Henry Morgan Hotel and Beach Resort. Other options include the casual 26-room Turquoise Bay Dive and Beach Resort and the Infinity Bay Spa and Beach Resort. All hotels include all meals and drinks; some include a variety of sports as well. Sunwing will offer direct flights to Roatan Island starting in December from Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.Perhaps less known than Roatan Island, but gaining a name as an eco-tourist destination is La Ceiba. With a backdrop of the Pico Bonito (“beautiful peak”) National Park, the area around this medium-sized city features beaches, natural reserves, parks and easy access by ferry to the Bay Islands. Sunwing will feature three four-star all-inclusives near La Ceiba — the hotel-style Palma Real Caribe Beach Resort; the Palma Real Villas (featuring 30 two-bedroom villas complete with full kitchens); and the Villas Telamar, a combination of hotel rooms and villas. Sunwing offers direct fights to La Ceiba commencing in December from Toronto. |
