Anyone been to Riu Paradise Island | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

it used to be called Sheraton Grand hotel, but we are looking at going to the Riu property (all inclusive) in April 2005 for 3 nights. Anyone been there who could comment on this property/location, amenities, beach, would be helpfulThankshatecoldweather (aka Kimberly)
Hi. A friend and myself are staying there Apr.3-7. I have done some research and it seems to be a pretty nice place. Hope you got All-Inclusive! Its right next door to Atlantis too! If you need info on clubs and other things, just let me know.

If you are going on the same dates, let me know. We have a limosine picking us up from the airport….its a stretch Hummer…they didn’t have anything smaller.

Hello

We will be visiting this same resort in two weeks so I can fill you in then. I know it once was Sheraton so we’re hoping it’s clean and worth it.

Let me start by saying, we have been to the Bahamas numerous times, we are not high maintenance, we are a VERY easy going couple in our early 30s. We have stayed at everything from 2 star motels as well as Sandals and Atlantis…We just got back from a weekend at the Riu and would never, ever go back or recommend it to anyone. The rooms were mediocre. We had the deluxe ocean front suite. It was nothing to speak of and the last time I checked into a 5 star resort there was shampoo bottles and conditioner not little packets. The rooms weren’t renovated at all.The staff is lacking customer service skills in every imaginable way. Restaruants – you have to get downstairs each morning and line up for at least an hour to get a dinner reservation (we couldn’t get anything after 8am) – the japanese was apparantly the best but we could never get in. We had the gourmet which wasn’t bad and steakhouse which was alright – the food wasn’t that great overall.Blaring loud island music all day long by the pool.Freezing cold pool – no one ever went into it, it was too cold.Elevators were really slow – we took the stairs almost all the time.Brutal nightly entertainment. The swim up bar isn’t set up and no one is ever there.Good things – Close to Atlantis to gamble.

There are lots of choices, find another place!

This is really disppointing to hear! I was about to book a few days there but now am going to do some online searching for a few more reviews….

If anybody else has been there yet please post an opinion! Thanks
