We were traveling with another 2 couples, one of whom had a home in Santa Domingo.We had to make reservations only 3 weeks before and the Casino in the Barcelo complex had the only available rooms. Now I know why! The rooms are awful. We were in the older part which should be torn down. There were insects, the plumbing didn’t work and it was generally poor. They did move us to the Newer rooms after one night, but they are not exactly elegant. The pool is very small and if you are not agile, difficult to get out. I don’t think the filter was working either. There was one place to eat @ the Casino. Of course we could go to the other part of the comlex to eat, but access only the buffets and not the other restaurants which are limited to other visitors.The liquor is very limited to cheap brands.
If you want to feel like a second class citizen this is the place!

Beach/Pools/Grounds: Golf course on site. The beach is beautiful. You take a little train ride
to the beach. The pool in the premium area is georgeous. You do have access to it.
Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
No directed activities. There is tennis on site and golf.

Stay at the premium.. not the casino
