Hi all, My friend and I (both single females in 30s) are looking to booking an AI for mid December (Dec 14-21). We’ve narrowed it down to either the Barcelo Maya Palace OR the Riu Yuchatan. Any thoughts? Has anyone been to either or one of these resorts recently? The prices that I’ve found are pretty comparable so its now all about the resort and what amenities it has to offer etc. We want somewhere with a nice beach for the day and good entertainment for the night (ie: disco, shows etc). Ideally it would be great if there weren’t too many families and/or honeymooning couples there. Any thoughts would be appreciated! I can’t wait to book something so I can start the count down!!!Wendy

Not a lot of help here :(, but we have booked the Barcelo for April and from everything I’ve read, it is big enough that you should be able to find just about anything you want. Everyone seems to rave about the beach, and then you have the Captain Morgan Club for night life…..along with the other bars on the resort. Hi Wendy, I have been to both, neither time as a couple, and I would choose the Barcelo over the RIU, it has a gorgeous beach and different sections, so there’s lots to do for everyone. They have awesome shows at night with professional dancers. It was one of the best holidays I’ve been on!
