Best offshore snorkeling | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

We love to snorkel, but like the convenience of just swimming from the beach to the reef so we can come and go as we please. We had 2 great trips to Akumel, Mexico, but want to try someplace new. We’ve done AI resorts for our other Caribbean trips. We’d definitely consider a non-AI if we could find an affordable area with reasonable eating places in the area. We don’t mind renting a car to drive to other beaches in the area with good snorkeling. Any recommendations for hotels, resorts or snorkeling spots offshore?

Breezes Jibacoa, Cuba. Good reef, very accessible. Lots to see, but no turtles!

I have just returned from a diving/snorkeling trip in September and it was just amazing. The snorkeling from the resort was the best. Here is a link to some of the underwater pictures I took whilst out there.

Wossa…… ;D

Thanks for the suggestions! Can Americans travel to Cuba now? I would love that! Maldives look awesome too. Is it $$$$ there? We are on a tight budget this year- two kids getting married.

Americans always could travel to Cuba…..as far as Cuba is concerned you would be welcome. It’s coming back to the U.S. that could cause you grief. Many Americans travel to Cuba via Mexico or Canada every year. The Cubans are cooperative and don’t stamp your passport, so there is no record of your visit when you return to the States. And yes, I think the Maldives are big bucks. Cuba, OTOH, is cheap!

Paradisius Rio de oro was great.. been to Jibacoa too.. PRDO is better
EEEEFARM.. could you tell us what resort you were at in the maldives?
