I am looking at booking a trip here for the end of October. I have always wanted to travel to Cuba and it looks like this is going to be the time finally. I have been looking for the past few months and based on time/cost/features/reviews I have decided on this resort.Have a few questions that I haven’t been able to find answers to:1)i think they have a disco, but haven’t seen any pictures or details about it….can anyone fill me in?2)Do they have bacon at the resort?..I know it seems silly, but its a hangover cure for me 8-)…….and its even better if they have lots of ketchup:)….I have read some reviews of resorts in Cuba where there were NO condiments for the food…so that’s why i ask.3)Do they top up the mini-bar each day? in the DR they always do, but doesn’t seem as common in Cuba? Have read some reviews where you have to get your 1 bottle refilled every day at the bar with water there?4) Do the bars close at 9pm? On Sunwing’s description of the resort, it shows the latest bar open till 21:00h. Any of the other travel sites don’t list the hours….please tell me this is not correct?!
Any other feedback or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I am planning on booking this before the end of September, so anything you guys could give me would be great |

I have been to this resort twice, I will try to answer your questions1. I can’t remembe rif there was a disco, the tour operators brochure should tell you this.2.They did have bacon but it can be a hit and miss. they always had some kind of breakfast item such as bacon, sausages etc.3. Again a hit and miss. If you ask the houskeeping staff nicely they will sometimes give you an extra bottle or you can buy it at the resort store. I found it was just as easy to take your empty bottle(s) with you in the morning to breakfast and fill it up.4. There is a 24hour lobby bar, again the tour operator brochure should state this.As with any trip treat the staff with respect and get to know them and make the best of your vacation and you will have a great time | |

Thanks for the info guys…it’s booked and now the countdown begins…I am so excited. I will be on the Cuba board side now all the time for the next 30 days trying to get as much info as I can……it’s appreciated! |

Monctonguy, I know how excited you are. we are counting the day also.we will be at the melia cayo coco.me and my sister, its an all girls thing. this will be our first trip together and we are truly excited. cant sleep at night.I have visited the blue bay 2 years ago it had just opened we stayed at the oasis right beside and we got permission to visit and it was the only place where we could by the crystal in can on the resort store, it was new we spoke to many guess and they were iffy about it many things did not work and the place was bare. but they had a beach bar and the hut on the beach were great and the beach was much better at the blue bay than ours. the only thing we didn’t enjoy was smells during the day from both places and watch for the roaming cattle during the evenings they are every where. we were on the 2 second floor and one night getting to our room right in the center of the stairs was a huge black cow laid down on the ceramic tiles in front of the stairs lucky for me my husband was born on a farm and yelled some words and off he went but we laughed so much we had fun with than we are not complaining you can find many surprises in Cuba. just go with the flow and you will enjoy it. Enjoy Bella
Now we pray for superb weather |

thanks for the info…I have heard and seen about the cows that roam..lol….at night it seems for some reason?!..lolthe smell is from the mangroves they have I am guessing?I know when a resort is new, it won’t be up to 100%…but I am hoping after 2 yrs it should be running ok. The beach does look AMAZING…..
Nothing is perfect, but for the price and features its as close as i could get…….. Your right about the weather….fingers crossed…. |

Anyone have the e-mail for Ademir Perez Ortiz , who takes care of the reservations at this resort?
have read many reviews where people have contacted him shortly before their arrival with a request and he always was happy to take care of it……..haven’t read a review yet where he didn’t answer or meet the request…… |
|
wondering as well if anyone has a map of the property…I found something on Debbie’s, but just had the building’s numbered, but no description of what they were……..thanks |

I think have found an e-mail for Ademir, not sure if it’s current or not. Once I hear back i will post here and let others know for their future bookings…..
Still searching for a map of the resort…….. |

![]() Still searching for a map of the resort…….. Links to the resort maps are in the general info & FAQ section but I gather you already found that one. Would have been nice if the person who submitted the map had provided a legend. OTOH, maybe they did and this information got "lost" in the change over to the new forum format. Seems a lot of stuff has been lost Here’s the direct link for the Blue Bay Cayo Coco resort:- www.flickr.com/photos/debbiescrr/4472858874/in/set-72157623329162579/ Based on other resort maps, the numbered buildings will be the rooms while the lettered buildings are the amenities. Would be useful to know where the disco is so you can avoid that part of the resort. |
