Blue Belize Reviews – Belize Hotels – Blue Belize

My teen-aged son and I came to Belize to do some exploration…flew into Cancun, bussed it to Chetumal, then rented a vehicle in Corozal and drove all the way down to Punta Gorda. (Note: unless you rent a vehicle in Belize City, you just might get "stuck" with an older-model, high-mileage vehicle – and it was not cheap – $75 USD/day!) I found BlueBelize when I searched online for places to stay in PG, so I really didn’t know what to expect – just the reviews that others had left. But whatever I DID expect, those expectations where met – and exceeded! We didn’t get to meet Rachel, but Dan, his sons, and his friendly canines made us feel right at home. (My son missed his dog, so Mrs. Pips and Maxine helped fill that spot!) The flat was large, bright, and airy – and even in the PG heat and humidity, we were pleasantly surprised that we actually didn’t need A/C! The flat was outfitted with a fridge, microwave, hot plate, coffee maker (and coffee), kettle (and tea), plus dishes, pots, and utensils – and a Brita water filter jug (we didn’t have to go out and buy bottled water). And the high-speed internet was always on – making it easy to let people back in Canada know what they were missing! The breakfasts consisted of homemade zucchini loaf, banana muffins, papaya, pineapple, watermelon, fresh OJ, tea and coffee…perfect start for a day of exploration! The view was spectacular – right on the water front. BlueBelize’s location in the town was perfect – a bit removed from the main area, which cut down on noise and traffic, but everything was still in walking distance. It was nice to take daytime walks in the quiet and friendly neighbourhood. The tree out front was a haven for birds – and that friendly igauna. Who needs an alarm clock when birds can do the same thing!? One morning, my rented 1995 ford explorer didn’t start. Dan went out of his way to get it going – my son and him spent over an hour working on it. He didn’t want payment for his services, so I left him (and his sons) some gifts.

Would I recommend this place to a friend? MOST DEFINITELY! BlueBelize was a home away from home – hmmm…but my home back in Canada was under freezing conditions – so BlueBelize was BETTER than home!! Can’t wait to come back!
