I’m off to Cuba soon, and would love to bring some winebut I have a couple of questionsFirst of all, can you buy duty free wine before you take off, and carry it on the plane?Second, will Cuban customs give us a hard time.
I’d love to have some in my room for a before dinner drink. |

Yes, yes, no.All the duty free wine I’ve seen at the airport is very expensive. Supposed to be duty free but they are selling the higher end stuff at the airport and not worth it IMHO. You might be better buying some of the wine in tetra bags ahead of time and packing it. There are some good wines in the foil packs that are not expensive at the local LCBO. Cuba customs will be fine unless you are taking in more than they think you will drink.
I’ve seen some good prices at the stores in Cuba for wine and a lot of a la cartes now are selling better wine. Last time we had a great Malbec from Argentina that was under 10 CUC in the resort. |

Are there any good places in Jibacoa to buy wine for the room? |

![]() I’d love to have some in my room for a before dinner drink. Yes, you can buy wine at the duty free and carry it on the plane BUT they might not have the wine you prefer to drink in your duty free shop. I’ve personally never had any grief from Cuban customs for bringing my own wine/single malt scotch/Baileys.If you are fussy, then bring some wine but you’ll have to pack it carefully in your checked luggage. Watch your weight allowance!!I do recall that the wine at Cameleon Villas Jibacoa was pretty decent last time I was there. I just got myself a glass of wine at the bar and enjoyed it before dinner. |

![]() Not anything close by that I can think of. |

As others said I would like to add as well that the best option is to buy wine here and bring it with you. dex is right usually if it is special on sale maybe price is better than in LCBO but duty free prices are not so good at all. Here are some prices of the wines if you leaving from Montreal www.montrealdutyfree.ca/red–rose-wines-!296-cat.html as Toronto free shop doesn’t have online prices. Looks like we live in the world without internet and they cant put prices online for us. | |
