Not sure how i came across this but for all you clamato lovers this may be an alternative. I have not personally tried it yet but did email their sales staff and they say it is comprable to motts. i placed an order from their on line store today so I should have it by the time we leave in feb.

It’s called ceasar pleaser. Just add water. The following is from their webpage.

Caesar Pleaser Instant Tomato Clam Cocktail Mix Simply add 1 package to 1 litre of water and mix well. Excellent for travelers, outdoorsmen, cottage users, campers, and fisherman.

It is easy to mix, convenient & light-weight.

Where do you live? I emailed the company here in Winnipeg a coupld of months but they are mail order only but… they did give me 2 local places where you can go and purchase it without paying 10 Bucks to ship it.

Duh? Just saw your screen name…lol, Riderfan, I guess you’re from Saskatchewan then eh?

Just checked the email for the 2 locations if you’re ever in town…

“SIR/Cabela’s at 1300 Ellice Ave carries Caesar Pleaser.
They usually have it at the front check outs, if not then look in the camping area. Also Human Bean & Coffee shop at the Forks also carries it.”

Cheers,
Debbie

Have tried Ceasar Pleaser before…not exactly the same as Motts…but comes reasonably close.

Alot of hunting/fishing/camping stores handle it. I have personally bought it at the LeBaron store in Mississauga, and have got it through Cabela’s mail order. When we backpack/canoe into Algonquin park, everything is powder or freeze dried if we can get it.

If you only want a little of it, mail order is definitely not the way to go…unless you order it with something else you need…as shipping on small quantities isnt very economical.

Nice to hear of someone that actually tried it. we had clamato at the melia a couple of years back. Wasn’t motts but was ok for beer and clam, or Caesars. hopefully this is relatively close. i also like the fact that it is a powder. Taking liquids is a real hassle.

Mike, when we come down on Friday, I am bringing a jug of the Bar Mix Clamato Juice with all the trimmings… wait till you try it with Vodka, or better yet, the way I make them, with Extra Viejo I am sure you will ‘aquire’ a taste for them…

As for in beer, never really got the taste for them in beer… Guess I figure Presidente is great without adding anything…

See you soon, say Hola to T and LM for us…

Hmmm I looked very hard in both Santo Domingo, and in Puerto Plata, and never found any…

Will have a look in Punta Cana…

I know when we asked at the resorts, they looked at us like we came from the moon…

Mike honey, try it, you’ll like it and it’s not even a “girlie” drink.
Hah, hah, just reminded me of that old commercial, “Give it to Mikey”

We bought some at the supermarcado last year when we were staying at the Palladium… I don’t drink it myself but our friend seemed to need it in the morning with his beer lol…
