| I will now give you a scary story. It came to me when replying to Eeeefarms story and concerns Hurricane Ike in 2008. You have gone to your room as instructed by the hotel and are awaiting the hurricane, they say its a big one about level 5. The wind starts to pick up around 4 in the afternoon and an hour later it sounds like a express train passing yards away outside your balcony. You can no longer see outside as it is as dark as night and the rain is beating down and anyway you have closed your curtains. The noise is loud and consistent and you notice that your curtains are moving in a rhythmic motion. Your past mechanical engineering education tells you that simple harmonic motion has set in with those large panes of balcony glass panes — time to move into the bathroom. Around six o clock you lose power and you are in the dark in your bathroom during a hurricane and you think the windows a coming in to let that express train outside your window into your room. Your senses are heightened in this dark cell and you can hear strange noises going on outside even with the wind noise. The tin tin tinkling of a metal light shade going down the corridor ,tiles slipping down the roof and crashing on the ground, plastic coving being ripped from the corridor ceiling — and now the scary bit — what the hell is making a sound like a heavy chain being dragged down the corridor?
