	My husband and I traveled to Marea del Portillo in April this year and enjoyed the weather. We are planning this time to travel to either Varadero or Havana end of July or beginning of August 2014. What is the weather like then? Is it too hot to even bother?

and I must say that I have been many times in July and August. Yes it will hot but I must say as well that in Canada (depends where are you located) can be very hot and humid as well. Advantage of being in Cuba is the beach and beautiful sea where you can take dip any time you wish and for that reason I really like to go to Cuba at that time. If you go to Varadero you will enjoy beautiful beach and see many European and South American travelers at that time. Some people can not stand heat and they do not like to much heat but I like and for me summer is great time to spend it on the beach.

It’s hot as hell and humid as a sauna. If that’s not your thing you’ll be miserable… but lots of people love it, especially for a beach vacation.Cheers,

Expect nighttime rains and high humidity during the day. Take light drip dry type clothing, not heavy cotton and umbrellas or rain ponchos may be useful. Check weather forecast before leaving as there can be occasional summer hurricanes. July and August are Cuban family vacation months so lots of opportunity to interact.

I often go in the first week of September and often find too hot to handle. I get up before dawn to take advantage of the morning and find that I have to retreat to my air conditioned room for an hour or two in the hottest part of the afternoon.

If you are by the beach it’s not so bad, but once you leave the sea breezes, the heat really hits you.

By the way Varadero has the lowest amount of rain comparing to other parts of Cuba. Mostly sunshine and nice weather but yes during summer times will be 30 min to 1 hour showers.

	I am planning on travelling in July this year. The closest month I have been to the summer was in May a number of years ago in Varadero. It was hot and buggy! I don’t mind the showers, so that shouldn’t be an issue. Looking forward to the beach. Hoping there is a breeze. Heading back to Santa Maria…it was gorgeous in April. Hope it’s not too hot in July!

No worries on the air conditioning where I am going. I usually have to turn it down…it is freeeezing! Siesta is always a must!

I am headed to Santa Maria next August for a wedding…first time south during the winter months. Really interested to see what the difference actually will be.

I don’t mind heat, I don’t mind siesta’s at all…..just dont enjoy "buggy" weather anywhere so…..

I guess you wanted to say first time in summer months as I know you travel in winter usually I go every summer to Cuba and I enjoy it. I drink a lots of liquids and I would suggest sometimes to have nice hot tea or other hot drinks in summer. Having cold drink will feel good and refreshing but you will sweat very fast. Having hot drink such as tea will make your body temperature similar to outside temperature and you will not sweat too much and hot weather will feel less hot.

Regarding bugs for me is the worst end of May and June while mid July and August is much better. Stay on the beach and not in the city or where is lots of cement and you will love it I am sure!

Usually hotels that have lagoons or waters that stay still such as "fake human made lakes" have more issues with mosquitoes than hotels that are in front of ocean/sea.

We are leaving July 23 for two weeks at Marea del Portillo. As I say to my Canadian friends who ask "isn’t it hot" – "STINKIN’ HOT"! But we have become masters of the Cuban slow-paced stroll, always wear hats, carry water bottles at all times, stick to SPF 45, have hats and t-shirts for the pool (just in case), and have definitely mastered the art of "resting". We have giant mosquitoes here in Northern Ontario – Cuban ones are pretty tame in the summer. I always take bug dope. There have been summers here that never really get hot/sunny for any length of time. A summer trip south guarantees that I have had a summer.

I’ve always enjoyed the exuberant plant growth in fields and roadsides during tropical summer and look forward to your review.

Try to drink some hot tea and spend time on the beach and you will love it. It gets hot and humid in Canada as well but you will be able to go and swim and relax. I would love to hear how was it for you once you are back from your vacation.

With the weather we have been having lately, it will be nice to be able to jump in the ocean to cool off. It has been sticky hot in Ontario these last few days.

We have booked–could not resist. Were going to book last minute, but opted out of that. We are going to Varadero, Iberostar Laguna Azul end of July for one week. Yay!!!! Cannot wait to visit Varadero and also a trip or two to Havana. Sure, it will be hotter than Ontario, but we have made trips to the Philippines in July and August, and I am sure Cuba will be as humid and hot as the Philippines. LOL!!!!!

	You will have lots of fun on the beach and great time. Temperature / weather is pretty much same now in Cuba and GTA.

I’m on my way bright and early tomorrow morning…should be on the beach by 3ish and in the ocean by 3:01~ humidex is tracking at 40+!
