My sister is getting married in Cuba (probably Melia Las Dunas) in August 09 and keeps getting conflicting advice from the travel agent and the consulate. She is divorced and knows she needs to get the divorce certificate certified and translated, but the travel agency is saying her fiancĂ© (who has never been married) needs a legal paper certifying that he is single. Consulate says nothing of the sort.Has anyone heard of this? I’ve been doing searches on this to help her out but haven’t found any such reference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

We were married there in 06 and didn’t have to prove we were single. I have a friend also married there in 06 and she had her divorce papers translated but her fiance didn’t have to prove he was single. |

Is she marrying someone from there or here? If she is marrying someone from there they DO have to have the single status declaration done as I just went thru this last month. Not sure about if she is marrying someone from here though. |

Matnateval, have your sister get in touch with the wedding coordinator at whichever hotel she’s getting married at. They will advise her of the paperwork that she needs and will be MUCH MORE knowledgeable than your average travel agent when it comes to Cuban legal requirements for marriage ![]() We were married in Cuba in 2006. My husband had been divorced so we had to get his divorce decree translated/legalized etc., even the Consulate’s information can be confusing and conflicting at times, depending on what you read or who you talk to BTW I did not need an affidavit attesting to the fact that I was single. ;D Hope this helps! |

![]() Any help would be greatly appreciated! I was married in Cuba in January 06, my husband did not require any translation or documents to prove he was single. I was the only one that had to do that for my divorce. Make sure your sister knows NOT to get her stuff translated until you are within 6 months of her wedding date, otherwise the documents will not be valid. |

I was married in Cuba in November 2008. Contact the wedding coordinator at your resort. They know what they need. Keep a good line of communication going with the coordinator. We had two and they were awesome. |
