Don Lino email address? – Cuba – Debbie's Carribean Reviews Forums

flaca 2011-01-27 23:34:17 UTC #1

I wonder if anyone has a current email address for the Don Lino hotel in Holguin province?

A message I sent to the email I had used in the past, without problems, has just been returned, undeliverable.
It was: rpublicas@donlino.co.cu
Mind you, I haven’t used this address for almost 2 years.

Also, does anyone know if the Islazul chain still owns this hotel? I heard there are big changes going on there now, staff lay-offs, new buildings being constructed.

Thanks!

I will see if I can get you the address from a good friend of mine who goes there often! There are so many changes all over Cuba now. So many layoffs
My heart goes out to them all

There are some new photos posted on TA of this resort that show several two storey wooden buildings. They look like they might be complete and being occupied. Also a couple of new reviews in French. I can make out the general idea with my Grade 12 french and pasting into an online tranaslator is an entertaining experiment.

For Moxie, can you provide a link to the TA details you mentioned? I searched, but I can’t find them.
Thanks!

Here’s the address for the TA page for the Don Lino

tripadvisor.com

Book Islazul Villa Don Lino, Holguin Province on TripAdvisor: See 417 traveler reviews, 1,122 candid photos, and great deals for Islazul Villa Don Lino, ranked #4 of 4 hotels in Holguin Province and rated 3.5 of 5 at TripAdvisor.

(Sorry this link doesn’t seem to be working – not sure if i’ve done it correctly. I found the page by simply Googling “Don Lino Holguin” and it was the second result)

I found the links to the reviews by accessing the “Hotel Photos” then following the various links under the pictures.

Hope this helps

PS Did anyone ever come up with an email address for the resort. I would like to email before we leave to request our two rooms be close together

edit: I think I have the link fixed. ;D

I found a couple of email addresses for Don Lino. Don’t know if they work.

reservas@donlino.co.cu

carpeta@donlino.co.cu

I also tried posting the link to the reviews, and it didn’t work for me either. Is Debbie’s blocking links to TA sites?

I don’t think so. They work from our Dominican forums but not here. I think it may be an unintentional side effect of another change. I have a theory and I’ll check with the editor about it.

Based on an edit to a recent post of mine in the Mexico forum, in which I gave a direct link to a another site, there is removal of links to other forums. That was the original explanation the editor posted, which was later removed and replaced with a link to my review which is now up here at Debbie’s.

There sure have been a lot of changes to this forum!

As I suspected, it’s an unexpected side effect to another change that was made. I think they added ‘tripadvisor’ to the censored words list and set it to change ‘tripadvisor’ to ‘TA’, just to save space.

From the editor:
Apart from the fact that I do not encourage links to our competition, we are not automatically removing them, unless the post is placed by our competition of course.

Unfortunately, that change hit the links along with all the other references. I’ve suggested a possible fix (not sure that it will work …). In the meantime, if you are trying one of those links, when you get the failure message, just go into your address bar and change ‘TA’ to ‘tripadvisor’. The link should work. At least it did for me.

edit: I think I have the issue resolved. Let me know if you stumble over any bad links.

Sorry, I found this statement hilarious. That’s like Ma and Pa’s homemade burgers referring to McDonald’s as competition. I love the information I get from Debbie’s via the forums but lets face it in terms of resort reviews; Debbies has 46 for Playa Pesquero in Holguin (the most reviews on Debbies for a Holguin resort) compared to 1881 reviews on TA. (as of this writing)

It seems since Debbie’s hiatus and web site makeover their resort reviews has plummeted, or not enough were retained in the new design IMHO. But in terms of knowledgable folks in the forums Debbies has the market cornered. Just don’t be afraid to link to other sites for fear of losing members/readers. Haven’t you seen Miracle on 34th street?

PM me for any further Don Lino questions, I just got back last week, my third time in 3 years.

Cheers!

Our previous editor, made the decision to automatically change the words Trip Advisor in TA, this also affected the links to the TA site of course. That’s all.

I reversed this change as soon as I was made aware of the complication this caused. All links to TA should work just fine. Thanks to BobFromCanada for his assistance in this matter.
