Duty Free…. Roatan Honduras Airport! | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

HolaI heard that there is now another Duty Free shop that has re-opened at the Airport in Roatan Honduras. In February 2007 the Duty Free was no longer at the Airport.

Does anyone have any information about this?.

Also, are they letting Tourists purchase alcohol and bring it on the plane in their carry-on for the return flight home?.Prior to the ‘Duty Free’ closing at the Airport, Customs were confiscating the alcohol and saying they did not allow any glass containers on the airplane. Mia, Perhaps you can check this out for us and let us know if we need to purchase the alcohol in Town and put it in our checked luggage or if we can clear Customs and then purchase our alcohol at the Airport. Thanks,Freedom Ryder 8-)……………….

Yes there is another duty free and yes you can take your liquer on board. However we got our rum at the super market at French Harbour, cheaper! There is another duty free in West end next over from west bay where henry morgan is. TRhere is als a super market in Coxen Hole. Beware the ATMs asre not reliable.

wossa Guest Freedom and I had tried to visit the duty free stores in both Coxen Hole and the West End during our weeks stay, however these were all closed. When we inquired as to why this was with the locals, we was informed that the duty free stores are privately owned by one guy, who had ‘allegedly’ fallen behind with his tax payments to the Roatan Government, and they had forced closure to all his stores until he paid what was owed.

The duty free store was also closed when we arrived at the airport, because it was Good Friday……

Thank God for duty free shopping on Sky Service…. ;DWossa…… ;D
