Easy question… | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

Okay I have to ask cause I am feeling really stupid at the moment. Is there anywhere anymore that you do not require a passport? Girlfriend may not have it for a while due to mix up with Quebec way of doing birth certificates. I am hoping that somewhere other then driving to the US is available to us.Thanks for any answers.
Dominican Republic destinations: Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, La RomanoIt is strongly recommended that all Canadians be in possession of a valid Canadian passport while abroad. However, for direct air travel to the Dominican Republic, Canadian tourists are only required to be in possession of valid official photo identification (such as a driver’s licence) and proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate). Canadian tourists must also be in possession of a return airline ticket.MexicoThe following information on entry and exit requirements has been confirmed with Mexican authorities. However, these requirements are subject to change at any time. It is the traveller’s responsibility to check with the Embassy of the United Mexican States or its consulates for up-to-date information. Canadians are not required to carry a passport to enter Mexico. However, in order to avoid delays and misunderstandings, we strongly recommend that you travel with a passport valid for six months after your arrival date. It is the only universally accepted identification document, and it proves that you have a right to return to Canada. A lost or stolen passport is also easier to replace when outside of Canada than other evidence of citizenship.

Thank you for the information.
I am truly hoping that she is able to get her birth certificate information all straightened out in time to get a passport. I know like all of you it is the preferred identification, however just really want to get away for our birthdays as they are a few days apart, and away from the kids, husbands, and life would be amazing…..

I was in the same situation as your girlfriend, born in Quebec but now live in Ontario. If you use the express version of obtaining your girlfriends new Quebec birth certificate (costs a few dollars more) she will receive it in about three weeks as I did in 2006.
zeuszeus, thank you so much, I passed along the information to my girlfriend. Now lets just sit back and see how long it takes.

Thanks again.
