Arrival: May 2008 First of all, I need to make things very clear. If you are the type of person to complain about mold in the rooms, bath mats, loose toilet seats, no face towels etc…then you should not be going to Cuba. You cannot expect 5 star hotels in cuba to be equivalent to 5 star hotels elsewhere. The people that work there do the best they can with what they’re given. Our arrival was very simple and easy.
Rooms are clean, but don’t expect them to be the cleanest rooms ever. You need to keep in mind that Cuba is a humid country, and that it is not always easy to prevent mold from forming in the rooms. Also, there might be bugs (what a shocker!). Just put some towels on the floor and bring some bug spray. It’s not the end of the world.
Restaurants and Bars:
The food is EXCELLENT. I’ve been to Cuba 5 times, and this resort by far has the best restaurants. Seafood, steak, wine, champagne, everything was great. The bars are plentiful and there is one almost everywhere you go.
Pool and Beach are both amazing! No words can describe it.
Like I said, you cannot go to a country like Cuba and expect everything to be provided to you on a whim. Tipping is helpful. Give the guy 10 bucks at the beginning of the week and he will be your best friend (let me know a place in Canada that’s like that). Also, you cannot ask them to do things like wire transfers, internet access etc… and expect it to be as simple as here. Remember, Cuba is still a communist country. It makes me very upset when I see people yelling at front desk staff because they didn’t get their facecloths that day. Come on! You’re on vacation. Go to the beach, soak up the sun, get a tan, get a drink, and chill! You have your whole year to complain, just go with an open mind and you’ll have a blast 🙂
