good family resort needed | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

My brother was supposed to get married in Jamaica this coming Christmas but they have decided to go their seperate ways. My husband and I have had our hearts set on a trip somewhere hot. We are looking for resort suggestions other then Beaches (out of our price range) for families. Our children will be almost 3 and 15 mos when we travel. We are looking to go over the Christmas break as we are both teachers. Any suggestions from experienced travellers would be much appareciated
Are you stuck on Jamaica? We stayed at Point Village Resort in Negril for 2 weeks last year and we loved it, however, it is not your usual all inclusive as most of it is privately owned ‘apartments". It was the least expensive of the resorts in Negril. We also loved Breezes Trelawney (used to be Starfish Trelawney) just outside Montego Bay, in Falmouth. If you are open to other places, I would also recommend Brisas Guardalavaca in Holguin Cuba if you can travel there (I didn’t notice where you were from) and we just came back from Gran Bahia El Portillo in Samana DR. The resort was divine but beware there are travel advisories about malaria in tourist areas and I did get bit quite a lot by no-see-ums and mosquitoes, so talk to your doctor. Also, the bus ride was about 2 hours from the hotel. (might be hard with the kids, although there were many, many kids there). We have also stayed at Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana and what was called Bavaro Village, but don’t know what the name has been changed to now.. and Luperon in the DR, about an hour outside of Puerto Plata. All of these resort had their pros and cons..

Hope this helps. Since I don’t know what you like in a vacation, I can’t be more specific, but PM me and I will give you more details on these and other places we have stayed..

Thanks for the info, we are very open to travelling anywhere hot I did look at the one in Samana and it looked beautiful. DR was somewhere we thought of going, we’ve been a few times but only to Puerto Plata so Punta Cana would be a great change. I’ll check out all your recommendations. It will be interesting travelling with two babies. And yes we can go to Cuba we are located in S. Ontario.
