Gran Bahia Principe Tulum Questions…. | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

Any advice will be great!I have booked to go for next July, we’ve upgraded to the hacienda;Any room suggestionsWhat does the hacienda upgrade mean? Are the rooms much better? A few people have mentioned a separate check in/pool etc…. what are the perks? What trips are available? What is the dolphin pool like? Are they treated well? Do they offer shows?

Any generic advice is much appreciated.

I too will be vacationing at the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum resort in December 2013 and would very much like to know which villas have the best ocean view.

missrv86……the Hacienda section is quite private and away from the main part of the resort……but only a short walk. It does have it’s own pool, check-in and is considered to be "private" as no one else is supposed to go there. As for the dolphin pool……it is typical of all the dolphin pools and shows you see down there…..seen one, you’ve seen them all.

herrony….. I would suggest asking for the Jr Suites in building five, and try for the third floor……..great view and so close to the main lobby….beach grill….beach and the theatre. If you can’t get there (there is an extra charge for the Jr Suites), try for building six (third floor).

Everyone crowds into a small area of the beach (Coba section). Much better to walk left (north) a bit where it’s quieter. We tried all of the restaurants when we were there and all were good. We liked Don Pablo and the Mediterranean (forgot name) the best. Even though the asian is highly rated, it was our least favourite. Take a flashlight, the walkways are still dark at night near the units. Best out of resort excursions:

Take a Collectivo (very cheap vans that travel up & down the highway constantly) to Tulum ruins, to Playa del Carmen for shopping and to Akamul beach. Vans are very safe and you can do a self tour and save a lot of $$. We paid for the excursion of Coba ruins and it was worth it.

Heading back to GBP Tulum again this year (7th) and will be staying in building 5 – third floor ….Jake is right perfect location and great views. We stayed in this building last year …. no complaints whatsoever. Feb. 2nd can’t come fast enough as we have -38 temps here this morning…. eyes are closed dreaming of our glorious month at the GBP Tulum
We stayed in 12 when we were there, right beside 5, just a bit closer to the BBQ ribs. Awesome.

-38 today??? You should move to the banana belt. We were +14 C. high. Almost got a sunburn working outside.
