	judging from all the feedback on this forum, a person could have the whole country to themselves. imagine first in line every time, hot water all the time, no obnoxious people to bug me, buffet never runs out of lobsters and always a lounger by the pool. sounds like paradise to me.

	Went there for a beer once… We were in Copan, Honduras and found out we were only 15 min from the border so we stayed an extra day and went to check out Guatemala. And had a couple of beers……

Stoped for a beer stayed a month & now back for 2 more.

Back again a couple times in 2010, 2011, 2012 gotta love Antigua.

Busman7My Sons GF has just returned from Guatemala. She was with a group of people from some sort of a mission her sister belongs to. The heads of the mission group did all of the bookings for her and she paid them. Is there not an easier way to get to Guatemala from the COTU?. She had to drive to Detroit and then fly to Houston to fly to Guatemala.Honduras has flights out of YYZ but I have never seen any flights from Canada to Guatemala. Am I missing something here or do we really have to head to Detroit-Houston-Guatemala?I am located in Ontario between London & St. Thomas and about an hour 45 minutes from COTU (Center Of The Universe). I would love to visit Guatemala but I am not really looking forward to the long hours at the Airport, the line up at the Detroit/Canada boarder and catching more than one plane.I know, the simple answer is stay home and do not go to Guatemala! So I do see something out of Toronto to Houston. Perhaps I should head back to Honduras and then head to Guatemala from there.

Hi FRThe only reason for that way would be a good price.Just did a quick check with American Airlines who used to be cheapest they fly from COTU home of the crack-head mayor lol via Miami to Guatemala City YYZ-MIA-GUA tomorrow ret one week later $979 USCheapOair shows United YYZ-IAH (Houston)-GUA $760 USShould you want to avoid the aggravation of the US TSA Avianca/TACA flies direct YYZ-SAL (San Salvador) $900 a $25 taxi 1/2 hr gets you to my place where a $35 shuttle (5 hrs) to Antigua.Definitely no need to go to Detroit.

Thanks for the information. I would rather pay more and have less aggravation any day. I have no trouble getting into the USA but I have seen the Homeland Security in action and it was not fun! They do scare the heck out of me, lol. Last summer they seperated me and my sons dog "Pink" (her dads name is Floyd, lol) for hours at the boarder (Sweetgrass) is it? and I was not too happy about that at all. I always try to fly from Canada to avoid as much stress as possible.

	My friends went over Panama city and than they went from there to Guatemala. I would agree with busman7 that it could be cheaper flying to USA from Canada first and than go to Guatemala.

Yes but I think many many would agree that $140 is a cheap price to pay for missing the aggravation of TSA when transiting the US + the extra time involved with a stopover + if going onward by land, no need for paying the onward air ticket scam to US airlines.

I would agree with that! The $140 is actually even less when you consider that the US airlines also charge for your checked luggage ($25/suitcase/each way) and recently, some of them are even charging for carry-on. Layovers in some US cities are brutal!- even more so during winter weather conditions.One reason I favour WestJet is the lack of charges for your first piece of checked luggage.

	They charge now everything they can. They like to put smaller price as advertised but once you take flight you see how much actually you spent. I guess they find "legal" way to take money from travelers.

That’s true for US/Canadian (Westjet excepted) airlines but when flying in the real world there are still carriers who care such as Avianca who fly direct YYZ-SAL
