Henry Morgan resort | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

My husband and I are in our late 50s and are divers.Has anyone stayed at this resort? Is the flight direct or through LaCieba? We are looking to book through Conquest vacations in Feb for 2 wks. Looking forward to some feedback. Thanks Mia
Hi MiaMy last trip to Honduras February 2007, I stayed at the "Reef House" Resort but heard good things about the "Henry Morgan" Resort. This February or March we are looking at heading back to Honduras and either staying at the "Henry Morgan" Resort or "Fantasy Island" Resort. The flight for the resorts are direct and fly into Roatan Honduras."Fantasy Island" Resort has 2 different packages, one for vacation only and the other for vacation and diving.I did not see any packages for the "Henry Morgan" Resort that include diving as well. We are still looking into all of the information before we make our final decision on where to go and when to go. We do know that we will be heading to some area of Honduras to enjoy the fantastic Diving they have to offer.

Our group of 6, are booked for Henry Morgan’s in last week of March for 2 weeks. Could you let us know what the best Diver Operator choice would be, Mia. Thanks

Hola

It looks as if Wossa and I will also be heading to the Henry Morgan in March for some Scuba Diving as well as Cara Cara to do a dive or two with the sharks.

We had been looking at a few other resorts as well as dive destinations but we are now leaning toward the Henry Morgan Resort.

We will be booking our trip this weekend once we have finally decide on where to go.

Hey DeputyNot in the slush yet! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;DWossa and I have still not booked for Honduras yet. Just before we were to book our vacation some young woman talking on her cell phone decided she did not like me stopped at a red light in front of her.

She nailed my truck as she was still doing about 40 km, then have the nerve to get out of her vehicle and insist I get out of her way as she had no time for this and was late for an appointment.

I will need some physiotherapy as well as massage therapy and then see how I feel before we book for Honduras.

Oh well, better days ahead……… I hope.

Hola Mia and Spartacus I read a review about the Henry Morgan Resort and apparently there is an orphanage in the area. The review goes on to say that there are orphans that are wards of the state that will never be adopted out. The children range in the area of 5 to 17 yrs old and there are boys as well as girls living in the orphanage.Wossa and I are trying to find out the exact location of their residence and looking into seeing if we can bring some Humanitarian Aid down to them in March since they are in need of so much. The review also states that the owners of the Henry Morgan Resort lets the children go to the resort on Saturdays, free of charge, to play, swim and eat.I will post here on Debbie’s as soon as we get more information about this. It would be great if anyone heading to the resort that had extra room in their luggage and were not already over their weight limit, could find a few items to bring with them to donate to the orphanage. If either of you are interested in bringing items down for them and do not have extra items to donate, I will be happy to ship things to the both of you for donation.I am in the process of getting a letter to send to ‘Skyservice’ for extra weight allowance in order to get as much Humanitarian Aid down to Honduras as I can.Freedom Ryder 8-)……………

[email protected]

Glenn Solomon, (504) 9769-6079However, unfortunately no one has responded to our mails yet, and the staff at the Orphanage don’t seem to be able to speak very good English. The Henry Morgan has mailed us confirming the children from the Orphanage still visit the resort each Saturday, and donations for the children can be bought down and given either direct, or to a member of staff.Wossa……….. ;D

Freedom Ryder We are taking a bag of balls for the kids. Still trying to score soccer balls and an air pump. Will take other fun stuff for kids to play with to distribute around the island. I gather things are hard to come by. Will also take ibuprophen to give to a nurse in West Bay.Other ideas welcome.Sunquest has not been a problem when we add things to our dive bags so we have leeway with our luggage weight. 10 days to go!

Mia

Forgot to ask! Does anyone have an e mail address for HenryMorgan? We need to have a contact for our family for emergencies as I don,t know if we will have access to our e mail.

Thanks Mia

Hi MiaBelow, is the information we requested from the Orphanage in Roatan Honduras.They gave us the names, ages and sizes of the Children that visit the resort on Saturdays for a day of fun, free at the resort.I have also contacted ‘The Salvation Army’ and they will be sending items for the Children on their behalf with me as well.Have a great vacation and we will be looking forward to your return so you can give us any valuable information as what to do and where to go on the Island, when we are not diving.Freedom Ryder 8-)……………..Boys Name Age Shoe Size Shirt Pants Alex 16 38 18 32x30Axel 11 35 12 29×25= 10Junior 9 33 12 8Noe 10 33 12 8Victor 6 29 6 6Roberto 6 32 8 6Fabricio 9 32 12 8 Patricio 11 35 12 10Jonlisis 12 36 12 10Jonathan 12 36 12 10Solmer 11 34 12 10Eleazar 10 32 8 10Denis 6 30 8 6Abner 6 28 6 6 Santiago 12 35 12 10 Girls Name Age Shoe Size Blouse Skirt Deysi 12 38 5 7/8Cibelis 9 30 7 8Helen 5 29 6 6Cecilia 10 35 10 8Joselin 10 32 m 7/8Gissell 7 13 Dress 8 Carla 15 37 m 7/8 Jeniva 9 33 s 5/8Bertha 14 37 m 7/8Laura 15 37 m 7/8 The Children needs: Long white socks, White T. Hola Freedom Ryder This is fabulous info, thanks. How clever of you! Never would have thought of it.We will bring toiletries etc. Mia
We will bring toiletries etc. Mia Hi MiaThat is awesome that you will be bringing things also for the Children.I am so excited now. I have loads of stuff ready to go and I still have to pick up the things from the ‘Salvation Army’ for the Children.I faxed my letter to ‘Skyservice’ today and asked for extra weight allowance for Wossa and I so we can get everything to Honduras.I hope to hear back from them soon as to what extra weight allowance we will each have.If at all possible………. Say hello to the folks that run the Orphanage for us and let them know we will be there to meet them on March 15th when they arrive for their fun day with the Children.

Have a safe flight and an awesome stay at ‘The Henry Morgan’ Resort.

Hola Freedom Ryder HELP! I’ve won the lottery! The Newmarket Soccer Club has donated 50 soccer balls to distribute around the island. This is great but I can’t fit them into our dive bags! Could you share the fax # for Skyservice? The box weighs 22kgs thats my luggage allowance alone

Thanks Mia

Hi MiaHere is the number for ‘Skyservice’ Customer Information phone number ……1-888-571-0094.I called them twice now and they told me in order to get extra weight allowance, I would need a letter from a Charity, Church or Organization saying I am bringing humanitarian to the orphans on their behalf. They need this letter due to the increasing number of travelers that apparently say they are bringing H.A. and really are not and they use the extra weight allowance for themselves.I went to my local ‘Salvation Army’ and asked not only for a letter but extra things that could be donated on their behalf as well.I am sure a Church in your Community will be happy to provide a letter for you if you tell them where the items are going.I then did a cover letter stating our names, the dates we travel, flight number we will be on, as well as a contact e-mail address so they could confirm the extra allowance, I also sent along the letter from the ‘Salvation Army’.I asked for 2 extra bags, one for Wossa as well as myself and a limit of 23kg each. That is just a bit over 50lbs each. I think a bag can only weigh 50 lbs max so I will see what they say.Apparently the weight we will be allowed will depend on how many other travelers on the same flight ask for extra allowance for H.A. and how much extra room they think they will have. Here is the fax number for ‘Skyservice’ that the information needs to be sent to. 416-679-1603.Mia, make sure you let all of the air out of the balls before you travel with them.

Let me know if you need any more information. Feel free to contact Myself or Wossa via a P.M. here on Debbie’s.

We can also send you a copy of our letter from the Orphanage with their contact information, as well as the list of names, sizes etc…. that I posted on the forum.

BTW, I contacted them about the weight of the dive bags and I was told there is no limit on them but once again I am sure no bag can weigh over 50 lbs each due to the strain on the workers backs that have to load the bags.

Hi MiaIf you are diving, you will be entitled to bring a dive bag that is not counted as your weight allowance. It might be worth calling the airline to tell them in advance that you will be taking a dive bag, they usually note it against your booking.Your probably already aware of this, but just thought I would mention it, just in case.Good luck in getting the footballs to the children, they’ll love them !! Did they give you something to inflate them with ?Have a great time.Wossa………… ;D

hola wossa Ihave contacted Sky service. The # I used was 416-679-8330 as the # given by freedom ryder was for Dan the fax # is correct Thanks for your advice. I have PM’d freedom ryder
