How do you handle the towel game? Do you participate, ignore it, or toss them suckers off the loungers? :-)Which resorts are the worst for it in Cuba? |

We’ve hashed this one over a gazillion, no, wait, a gatrillion times… I’ll pass and refer to past threads on the subject.

I would try to see if people went to have lunch and left towels there. But if I need chair to rest and I see towels there for more than hour I would simply put those towels on one chair and I would take other chairs. Not sure why some people leave towels on the chair and not show up for more than a half of the day.

not to be cheeky ….we try to go in off season so less of a problem. BUT it is a problem….. Same for us. We also try to look for and research resorts that seem to have less of that problem. Of course, there are always the ones who go way "above and beyond" ~ The Towel Game Masters ~ the ones that save loungers in the Sun and also in the Shade, or the ones that have loungers on the Beach and also at the Pool.
One time, at the PRdO, there was a couple who had 3 sets of loungers ~ the Beach, the Poolside (sun) and Pool (shade). That was eight years ago, never saw that again.

I generally don’t have a problem, as I seldom need a chair for anything other than to leave my stuff on while I snorkel, and if things are busy I try to find a broken chair for that. (usually not hard!) If I did want to sit down and there were no "open" chairs but many being "saved", I would just pile up the towels or belongings and use the chair, replacing them when I was finished. If the person came back to claim the chair, I would simply smile, say I was "keeping it warm", and leave. If they want to shout at me for that, or chase me down the beach, well, that is their choice. I’d smile and keep walking. |

The towel game last year at PRDO was the worst I’ve ever saw. My husband and I are typically early risers… and were to the pool by 7-730 and there wasn’t ONE seat in the shade, not taken. It was absolutely brutal, especially for the price you pay to go to PRDO… but we upgraded to RS and had gorgeous seats in the shade everyday, so all was well again.
So how do I deal with the towel wars? I guess I don’t … I came close to taking towels off peoples chairs last year, but didn’t have the balls. Instead went to the bar and drank hahaha

Instead went to the bar and drank hahaha Once I personally called customer service lady and told her about people leaving towels for more than 2 hours. She removed them ! |
