We’re still looking for a destination for our two week trip (January/February 2009) and Grenada caught my eye! However, the hotel I’m interested in has a European meal plan, so basicaclly no meals included at all.
I would like to know how expensive Grenada is, food wise? All info is welcome!

Grenada is one of the little hidden islands that is just lovely to go to. However you will still see several old tanks that have been left behind after the "invasion". As for the food, in most of the upscale restaurants you probably are looking at about $55USD and up and mid level restaurants around $10-25USD. Of course if you would like there is always several fast food restaurants like KC. If you do go to one of the more expensive restaurants you might have to follow a strict dress code as well. Of course all the prices I quoted you are before tips.

You could do a combined eat in dine out as we did 2 years ago. Our cottage had a full kitchen, so we would have a quick breakfast of fresh fruit, coffee toast and head out. Lunch would be a roadside roti (I can tell you where the best one in Grenada is found) and then back to the cottage for dinner. There is an IGA in St Georges, we found it a bit more expensive than Canadian prices on most items, but local produce and product cheaper. As was mentioned by Stills, Grenada is a treasure still undiscovered by the masses. |

Book through Air Canada Vacations – All inclusive Grenadian by Rex – reasonable price for a good hotel. All the hotels are dated down there, but the Rex Resorts have spent some money on this place.

Halifax – Toronto – Grenada and return is $2700 for two ppl (flight only)
The Grenadian by Rex all inclusive package through AC (AC flight included)for two weeks for two ppl is $4800 tax included from Halifax….good deal. The Rex is next to the airport, has a good beach, but it is a bit of a drive to St Georges.

Returned from Grenada a week or so ago. As for exspensive it can be depnding. We were at the Rex with AC Vacations on AI so it cost us nothing. Buffet for non AI at the Rex was about30US for dinner. As for distance from St. Georges. Its about a 10 min drive. You can take the bus which stops right outside the resort. Can’t remember cost. I think it was 2EC each way. Had a great time and as someone said its a hidden gem.
Cheers
