Iberostar Varadero Chairs for Ceremony? | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

Hi Everyone,I’m new to the board! My name is Brianne and I am supposed to be getting married at the Iberostar Varadero next May but I am having a problem with Belkis.I was wondering who had chairs for their guests to sit on during the ceremony and who did not? I have been informed that no chairs for anyone by Belkis. Also, if you had bridesmaids, were you able to get their hair done at the salon also? Thanks for any info!Brianne
I’ve found Belkis to be fine so far.. she does this everyday. We haven’t asked for any chairs, but I’m sure if one of our guests needs one, someone will step up (we have a 90 year old travelling with us). The ceremony is less than 20 minutes long I’ve been told. I know the salon is limited, if there is another wedding that day you may run into problems with fitting people in. So far, Belkis will only confirm my hair appointment. I think once you’re "on the ground" things get sorted out really quickly. Cheers,

Lisa

Hi, I’m getting married there in April and I can not have my bridesmaid get their hair done by the salon. either.. Only brides get to have their hair done by the salon… But like Lisa said, if you are the only one getting married that day, you might have more chance… But I will tell my bridesmaid that they won’t have access to the salon so to prepare otherwise… If things changes when we get there, BONUS, if not, better be safe than sorry….

As for the chairs, I guess it depends on the location of your wedding… I know the beach wedding have chairs, but I don’t think the gazebo (pool and garden) wedding have chairs… I’ve been to this resort and there is not enough room for chairs in these two locations… Hope it helps!!

I was married at the Iberostar July 2006. We were married on the beach and there were chairs set up for all of the guests. My grandma is in a wheelchair and they even assisted her out to the beach location. Everyone was extremely helpful. My 2 bridesmaids did get there hair done at the salon as well. I don’t know if that has changed since we got married, but there was no problem for us. I loved my hair by the way!!!!

I think everyone one of us destination brides gets nervous about how the wedding is going to be down there, but rest assured your day will end up being perfect!

We had 25 guests and there were chairs provided, our ceramony was on the beach as well. I had my hair done at the salon and it turned out great. I agree with tricialeigh44, it will all work out fine once you get there but that’s easy for us to say right, having been there, done that already.
I have been emailing with Belkis and she is agreeing to 8 chairs only, which I can live with. Its just that I know my 79 year old grandfather will not sit if everyone (meaning the woman) are standing. Also, Belkis just told me they will have another hair dresser come January!!!Thanks for your reassurances Ladies. At least I know I am not alone worrying about the wedding. Newfie2- I would love to see some of your pictures. Did you have the resort photographer take them? Thanks Ladies!!

The link to my wedding pics are underneath my signature. I did have the resort phtograpger take them and loved every pic but he no longer works there. We had friends get married there in April and had a lady photographer and she did a great job as well.

Hi cubabride08, May I ask what is the location of your wedding? Is it on the beach, pool or garden? I’m just surprised that Belkis only settled for 8 chairs?? I’m bringing a group of 35 people and we are hoping to get chairs…. I hope the 8 chair thing doesn’t include the beach wedding…

FYI, I have been dealing with Belkis on these issues, and indeed it is their policy now of no chairs on the beach (but they will make an exception for elderly guests), if she’s saying you can get 8 chairs, that’s more than most who are asking.

Cubagirl, we’re hoping to get married on the beach. So, no chairs as confirmed by Shine. But I will also note that I have told all my guests and they are saying they will bring chairs down to the beach. I highly doubt they will kick you out of the resort for that. This chair deal almost made me switch resorts.

Shine – do you know why the change?

I love the idea of everyone surrounding us while we say our vows. I’ve been to a dw before and it was beautiful.. without chairs, no one even noticed. We will ask for a few chairs on standby as we have a few elderly people with us, but I hope they feel well enough to stand. Standing close by may also be the best option for people to actual hear the ceremony (I don’t think there is a mic system– I’d rather not have one). Best, L
you are right about that….there is no mic system. Also for the beach ceremony the gazebo is raised up a bit so I don’t know if you had people sitting on the sand if they will really be able to hear everything that is going on…so it might be nice if the guests were surrounding you. Here is a pic of the gazebo from our wedding:(you can see in the lower right hand corner a bit of the height)

And just for fun..here is a beautiful pic of the resort at night that we took:

Thanks for the info sandranf. Were people standing around you at your wedding??? You are right about the fact that people can’t hear anything when they are sitting down…. I’ve been to a wedding in April 2006 and we couldn’t hear anything… so it might be a good thing?!?! Do you have a picture of people surrounding you??

Yes this definitely shouldn’t be a deal breaker. We didn’t have any chairs for anyone nor did i even think of that option, we had ours on a private beach area that was 15mins away from the hotel.
Like Newfie2 said the ceremony isn’t long enough to even worry about it.
