| Yo, how’s the weather out west?If your flying into Liberia, pretty well any resort is fairly good, but I have heard some grumblings about Nakuti, and Giardini. Allegro Papagayo was decent last time we were there, but it’s at least 30-45 minutes away from anything.

I’m not a surfer but Tamarindo seemed to be the place to stay for those that were. There were tons of places in town where you could rent equipment or get lessons. |

| Just returned from Costa Rica…we stayed in a rental home in Playa Hermosa, but in our wanderings, found a beautiful resort in Ocotal…not big and glitzy…private, on the beach, and gorgeous grounds. It is called Bahia Pez Vela. About 3 hours from Arenal and Monteverde, but the drive was well worth it to see the country’s beauty and different climes.We used a driver from Avispas Adventures..he was great fun and knew his way around. Don’t miss the waterfall at Miravalles, white water rafting, and hiking in Selvatura Park in Monteverde. The drive to Arenal was great, but chances of seeing the volcano are slim to none..drive to Monteverde and stay overnight. Amy Lentz at Avispas. Jose and Roy were our guide and driver.

Tamarindo is going to be the best place for you if you want to be close to a surfing beach. It is only an hour from the Liberia airport and there are all types of hotels in the area to accomodate all budgets. Lots of night life and shopping also. Just google Tamarindo Hotels or go to TripAdvisor and there will be tons of options. ;D |
