Too bad you can’t get there from Ottawa without a long drive to a far away airport

I wonder if someone could rate the beaches for the resorts available out of Toronto. I know that they do change on CL over the years and sometimes much quicker than that. We would also be getting to Sirenas and Paraiso and checking out the western beaches but my wife does enjoy getting up early and planting herself in front of the resort for the day. If you could identify some of the resort photos in this thread that would be much appreciated.

Best beach is in front of the Pelicano, but the one in front of the Sol CL has more loungers and shade. While the beach wider than it’s been in year, the waves are a bit stronger in front of the Sol CL. It’s not unusual to see a red flag at the Sol CL when there is a yellow flag at the Pelicano.

Thank you very much!
The Sol is our first choice but the prices are still pretty high for Jan-Feb.

Very secluded and quiet Johnny. I find there is a serenity on Cayo Largo that I have not felt anywhere else in Cuba. Very peaceful, perfect to disconnect from daily reality and reconnect with what is essential. That’s why I love the place so much!

Hello @griz now you can see lots of the photos identified if you check photos in the thread. Playa Blanca (Hotel Ole Playa Blanca) is tricky one as in the front of the hotel you see rocks as the each is on the side of the hotel. If you like to walk you can walk all the way to Sol Cayo Largo / Sol Pelicano hotel. Personally I like all hotels. They have organized bus to Marina Cayo Largo where you can take boat trip Playa Sirena. It was all inclusive in our Playa Blanca hotel stay.

Thank you so much for that!
Hoping to see this paradise in early 2017. The price watching begins…..

How did you like Villa Marinera? I’ve been looking at this place not just because it is less expensive but because I’m actually drawn to it. Seems like a good location to do day trips to various beaches from and be able to return to a relatively quiet early night. We do like smaller accommodations if they have good staff who are doing the best they can and I’m willing to make compromises as long as the basics are provided. The "town" such as it is is an easy walk as is the marina. It seems to get pretty good reviews from those who know what to expect from it. There does seem to be some compromises between the older rooms and the newer ones. I’m curious to hear what you and others have to say about the place.

We haven’t stayed there but have spent lots of time there. The food is good and as long as you mention your preferences you will get them. Staff were drawn from some of the best. In many visits, there have rarely been pool users, usually a group chatting on the deck outside the dining area. Needless to say, everyone meets everyone. The dividing walls in the cabanas are about as sound-proof as any "holiday" motel room, the individual AC units all worked when we visited, and the little bar provides a handy spot for those who want to use the disco/rave across the street but don’t want to line up for a beer at the bowling alley.
