Melia Cayo Santa Maria Reviews – Cuba Hotels – Melia Cayo Santa Maria

A very nice adult only resort. The most beautiful beach we’ve ever seen.

Your Arrival:
Arrived on time. Went through Immigration very fast. Got our luggage and headed to the bus. We checked in at the bus. That was brilliant. While we waited for the bus to depart, we realised that our room had a garden view so we asked to change for a pool or OV room. They recommended a pool view and that they would try to get us one. The 90 minutes bus ride was very very nice. So much to see. We go through 3 villages and then a 48km digg road. That was beautiful. Once at the hotel, they told us that they had a pool view room but we would only get it the next day. We accepted.

Rooms: Our first night room was nice, very big, clean, bed was cumfy. Our pool view room was amazing, same as the other room but the view was worth the change.

We had the sunset from our view. and that was so beautiful.

Restaurants and Bars:
That’s where we realised it was more than what we expected. We were so warned not to expect much from restaurants in Cuba. But seriously, every thing we ate was delicious and very healthy. There is lots of varieties. The fish is absolutely amazing. If you have lunch at the snack bar, ask for Baggre you’ll love it. And also the tomato and oregano pizza, mmmmm. The beach restaurant makes great grillades, like the snapper. The best a la carte is the meditterranéen, very very good, and they serve great red wine.

Beach/Pools/Grounds:
What can I add more, it is the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen. We used to walk for 2 hours each day. Beautiful white sandy beach, the water is crystal clear. One day very quiet and the next the waves are so high, you can barely go swimming.

Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel: Activities are great. We took a Catemeran and a pedal boat ride. loved it

One negative comment only. Don’t take the train to go to the new shops. There’s only one shop, and they sell the same stuff as the shop in the hotel. There’s an Ice cream bar and a couple of restaurants, but during the day they’re closed. There’s a disotheque, but who want’s to dance inside during the day? and there’s a bowling place. But you can go bowling in Canada. We wasted almost 4 hours because once the train takes you there, you have to wait for it to get back. Apparently all the other shops will open sometime in April 2010

Other Comments:
In conclusion, I would definitly recommend this resort. The people are very nice, the staff, very very polite and more than willing to please.
