|Just returned from Casa De Campo. Visited with a group of about 100 from Raleigh, NC. Food: average Service: Slow Resort: Beautiful Beach: Beautiful, but don’t go in the water (rocks, coral, shallow, sea urchins) Snorkeling: Catalina Island is a tourist trap, go into town and go with a dive shop Bars: pool bar is great, get the Teeth of the Dog drink Language: very limited English Transportation: definitely rent a golf cart while you are there Golf: Teeth of the Dog 10+, great experience, 7 holes on the ocean, not easy but very playable Security: very poor; our room was robbed while we were there, even though we used the room safe, we lost about $4,000 in cash and jewelry. The hotel/resort is absolutely no help. We contacted guest relations, hotel administration, and security and never got any response. Several others in our group reported items stolen.
If you go, leave valuables home. They have ATM’s for cash.
