Old Reviews – Vallarta Palace

February 2007

ARRIVAL— We arrived at night so arrival was nothing interesting. Getting through the airport was easy. After getting through customs everyone has to walk through an area that looks like taxi’s, rental cars etc. – TALK TO NO ONE – This is the Time Share Dungeon. These people will say anything to get to you to stop and start talking to them – Don’t even make eye contact and keep walking.

If you are with a tour group like Sunquest or Signature etc. Just walk to the person holding your tour sign. The taxi sharks are also going to hound you etc.

Vallarta Palace is a 15 minute ride from the airport.

ROOM—the rooms at Vallarta Palace are very nice. Very clean and modern design. The room was a good size for 2 people. Great beds with extra thick mattress pads which made them very comfortable. Every room also features a two person jacuzzi if you want to soak after a round of golf or tour etc. Also found the rooms to be very quiet between rooms.

FOOD—The food at the Palace was very, very good. You can choose from 2 different places to eat breakfast and get made to order eggs any style, pancakes, waffles, french toast etc.As well as everything else you could imagine, fruits, salads, meats, cheeses etc.

Lunch was the same as the 2 main restraunts served buffet food and made to order meats. Normally though we’d eat a full breakfast late in the morning and simply grab a lite bite to eat from the snack bear near the beach. The snack bar always featured salads, sandwhiches, nachos, hot dogs, pizza, chili, bbq ribs, chicken wingers or fingers, and all your typcical condiments – gauc, salsa, cheese sauce etc. AND ICE CREAM. You can enjoy usually 4 types of excellent ice cream at every restraunt and snack bar every day. It was great. We also did the room service and although it was slow and a limited menu the food was delivered hot and tasty. The evening dinner options were also excellent. Great steaks and seafood.

POOL/BEACH— 2 main pools. A Cold pool (not really that cold) and a heated pool which are beside each other. There was also a small shallow kids pool (3 in total). The heated pool had more activity in and around it and we had a lot of fun in it. Both of the "Adult" pools were very good size. There are also 2 jacuzzi’s at the pool area. Both very large. They are not super hot, but they had powerful jets and were nice to relax in.

The beach area is just a step away from the pool area. There is a vast amount of beach area between the palapas and the water. The sand was a great sparkling gold and at both the pool and the beach there was never, ever a problem getting a lounger. And there was drink service at the beach and the pool area, or you could get up and get your own all from bars close by.

    MISCELLANEOUS

  • The Ampiteature is right on the beach and is covered and is very nice. I caught part of a show one night and it was well done. Good sound system and great performances and efforts from the staff.

  • The lobby bar (Main bar) usually had a live band performing and they were very good. One night was had a Karoke night in the bar which packed up the place and it was a lot of fun.

  • All of the bars have all of the top shelf liquour you could want. Crown Royal rye, Absolut vodka, Bacardi rums etc.

  • Just outside of the Vallarta Palace is a shopping mall part of the Paradise Village complex. They have loads of shops, restraunts etc. Easy to walk to and neat to window shop etc.

  • Golfed the El Tigre course in the Nuevo hotel zone. Challenging and well laid out.

  • Took cabs to Bucerias and to the Marina area and the Malecon area of Puerto Vallarta to walk around. Felt safe everywhere we went, even later in the evenings. The cabbies do drive a bit on the edge but they are just keeping up to the traffic and you can always ask them to slow down if you are getting a bit scared etc.

  • Took an ATV Tour arranged through our Sunquest rep. Lots of fun going through the back gravel roads and some jungle areas. It also stopped at a Tequiliria for a quick lesson on Tequila and of course a tasting of a bunch of tequilas and a chance to buy some. It’s a fun tour – Just make sure you take sunglasses with you and that you get a pair of Goggles. Crazy Dusty !

  • Beach vendors are no problem. If you don’t want anything, they will not bother you.

  • Gym at the Palace was well equipped and the Men’s bathroom had a sauna and a steam room. It was nice to use the steam room.

  • Gift shop at the Palace is very, very well stocked with every and anything you could need. Suntan lotion, snacks, magazines, gits etc.

  • Not much of an animation staff which was a touch disappointing, but at the same time no one was bothering you either

  • 4 tours are included in your stay through the resort. Didn’t take any but others in the group did and all enjoyed their tours.

I loved my stay at Vallarta Palace and wouldn’t hesitate to say that they excel in great service, great food and drinks and offer the complete all inclusive package. Not sure what anyone else would expect the Palace exceeded my expectations.
