Hi All!

Well, I have been trying to confirm with the judge for my wedding date in January 08 since July 2006! Initially, I was told that I can confirm by February 07 then now April 07. I sent an email indicating that my TA is ready to help me book my stay at Palma Real but I haven’t heard back from the WC in almost 10 days. Needless to say, I am am anxious & nervous!! I really reallly do not want to have a civil ceremony at home and then just symbolic in DR. I can only hope that all will work out. I know that Palma Real is much more expensive than others in the area but I stayed there last May and it was so nice that we can’t resist…I am so glad there is a thread for this resort

Hey prbride2be! I too don’t want a symbolic ceromony, but as I heard there is normally don’t problem with that. I am in love with this resort and I haven’t even been there and I’m positive about the judge. I already booked my wedding for may 31 2008, after that I worried about judge. Since you were there in may how was the weather and which of the gazebos would you prefer?

Do you still have enough time to book! I though it was hard to get reservation if you don’t do it several months in advanced?

Good Luck!

Hi Salomeuh – I am going to really keep patient. At least from what I am reading, many of the other resorts are saying the judge will start booking for 2008 in April 2007 so we’ll see. I was there from May 25 – May 30 and the weather was great. Nice & hot but not too humid. I’d prefer to have the wedding ceremony in the gazebo that is over the main pool and near the beach front. It’s so nice…very romantic at night too. The gazebo by the garden is very pretty too. Well, my wedding is in 9 months so I better have time to book. 2008 rates just came out so I will start to book now. When do you book your wedding? Did they put you down just for a symbolic ceremony? Who have you been talking to?

Hi prbride2be! I booked two weeks ago and have confirmation for a civil ceremony. I have a WC @ Destinationweddings. Her name is cynthia and she is great, I just spoke to her today about the judge and she said we have confirmation we have to just keep in touch with them from time to time to make sure, she even has the judge name and info just in case we needed.
By the way,I’m in New York too.

Salomeuh. that’s great that you were able to confirm with the judge already. I just heard back from the romance mgr at PPR and she is holding my date of 1/28/08 and once I forward my reservation, she’ll confirm with the judge so I am hopeful! Did you book Royal Svc?

Has anyone booked a Royal Service Suite? I think if you want an ocean front room it has to be RS. Definitely a price difference. I am this close to booking but can’t make up my mind yet. RS, 8 or 10 days…ay ya ya.

Salomeuh – that’ s cool, you are in NY too. Well, not only am I a New Yorker, I’m also a Long Islander! LOL –

christie272 2007-04-26 15:08:19 UTC #26

I booked for royal service. I figured that since this is our wedding and honeymoon all in one, we should go all out and have ourselves pampered.

salomeuh 2007-04-26 22:39:37 UTC #27

Hi I will be there for 8 days. RS sounds great I choose not to booked just beacuse my guests wont be able to afford it and we are going to spend time with the family and since RS gives you access to some private areas I don’t want to be away from them. But definitely is a great option. I booked Regal ocean view, as per my WC does are ocena view too, even though I wouldn’t be surprise if is not.

Girls any ideas for the dress! Christie you are almost there do you have your dress already, any suggestions.

prbride2be we are not that far away I’m in Queens…

prbride2be 2007-04-27 01:49:20 UTC #28

I do agree Christie! I guess reading some of what is offered by booking RS didn’t sound like I would be taking advantage completely but when do we get to have a personal butler and the ocean right across from us!

Salomeuh, small world!?! Well, FYI – I already got my dress and veil…might be kind of early but I have been with my fiance for 11 years and I am anxious! Ha. Actually, they said it could take 6 to 9 months to get most dresses so I wouldn’t wait too too long. It’s mermaid style w/french lace…I was looking for a “Spaniard look” with a mantilla. We are of Latin decent, (not from DR though) so I wanted to capture that in our wedding.

Christie – how about you?

prbride2be 2007-04-27 02:19:15 UTC #29

Salomueh – I just re-read the thread & noticed that at first you felt Expedia produced a less expensive stay at the resort. I got the same feeling last night when I looked up what a 10 day stay would be in RS. Although the furthest date I could look up was in Dec 07, there was $1300 – 1500 difference from what my Liberty Travel Agent priced for Jan 08? I am hoping that there is a reason for that! I know there is usually a 15% increase year to year. I guess I’ll snoop some more to be sure.

salomeuh 2007-04-27 22:18:21 UTC #30

I think the difference is because expedia don’t have 2008 prices. After all it look the same to me. Wow is great you have your dress! I still havent decided if I’m goingt to buy it or maybe have someone do it for me.
So when are you planning to send your invites?

nikkig 2007-05-04 03:10:27 UTC #31

Hi Girls

I’m new to the site but was hoping I could get help getting some info. I’m try to plan a destination wedding in October 2007 (short engagement) and stumbled across the Paradisus Palma Real resort. Completely fell in love with the pictures. Do you know if its too late to try and get a wedding date in October? I’ve been working with a travel agent, but she’s kind of slow getting back to me. I previously was looking at the Sandals in Ocho Rios, but I’m honestly just not too impressed with Jamaica. Do you know if the prices are comparable to Sandals or more expensive?

Any info anyone could provide would be great.

christie272 2007-05-05 04:44:56 UTC #32

Nope, it’s definately not too late. I started planning my wedding for August in February. As soon as I booked, I sent out save the dates with all the info on them to everyone I am going to invite. The travel agent told me which days the resort had available and I chose one. And later, they told me the judge would be available for that date. So I did it in 6 months and I haven’t had any problems so far. good luck to you and congradulations!!

salomeuh 2007-05-16 01:10:52 UTC #33

Hi Christie your day is geting closer Ha! How many people are comig with you? have they found rooms available now?

christie272 2007-05-17 03:27:34 UTC #34

There’s already 26 people booked, and I know of at least 4 more that will definately come, so it’s gonna be a decent size crowd. I’m really excited. I sent out my invites and my RSVP is June 5, so then I’ll know exactly how many people are coming. I can’t wait ;D

christie272 2007-05-17 03:28:02 UTC #35

And as far as I know, no one has had any trouble booking rooms.

salomeuh 2007-05-17 22:21:27 UTC #36

That sounds Great! I can wait to see some pics! Have you been in contact with Kelly or Esmirna @ Paradisus Palma Real! Have you decide on location or packages? A what time is your wedding?

christie272 2007-05-19 04:36:52 UTC #37

yea, I’ve been in contact with kelly. She is so helpful and great with responses. I’m really considering having a private reception on the Gabi terrace. It is beautiful, but it is $80 per person. As soon as I find out exactly how many are coming I’ll decide. The wedding is def gonna be on the beach. And I’ll definately post you some pictures as soon as I get back!!

salomeuh 2007-05-20 23:08:45 UTC #38

That sounds great Christie, Kelly also gave me the Gabi Terrace option. I have a question: so that 80 p/p is after paying for one of the packages or that’s how much they charge to use the Gabi terrace/ with no package? Have they send you any pics of weddings at the resort?

christie272 2007-05-22 03:14:32 UTC #39

I’m pretty sure that’s how much it costs to use gabi terrace. Because I asked her if I had to use one of the packages and she said I didn’t have to if I didn’t want to. But I have to get into it more with her, because I guess if you don’t get a package, you have to pay for cake and flowers and stuff seperately. I don’t know yet.

salomeuh 2007-05-23 01:45:22 UTC #40

Yes that makes sense! Hope everyone enjoys the long weekend! I’m going on vacation to Spain! I’m really excited. Once I get back I will order my invitations!
