Playa Dorada – Puerto Plata – North Coast Dominican Republic – Debbie's Carribean Reviews Forums

Playa Dorada is located on Playa Dorada Complex, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and it is also known as the golden beach because it is mostly sandy and water is almost murky. The beach has nice chairs and access to kayaks. The beach is very clean and one of the less populated beaches in Puerto Plata. The beach is an awesome place to go relax if you are on vacation, it has a romantic air, great waves and you can go horseback riding right on the beach. It is the best beach to go strolling on or find snorkeling activities here. It is not like most beaches you see on the east side of the country, as the beaches in Punta Cana are usually white sand beaches but this beach is brown sand.

Playa Dorada happens to be the primary beach destination in Puerto Plata as every resort and hotel in this place has a share of the Playa Dorada Beach. You will see lots of reefs for snorkeling just offshore and the beach resort that marks the eastern end of the beach is Gran Ventana. Also you will find Blue Bay Villa Dorada and Casa Colonial on the eastern end. You will also always find security officials trying to keep off guests from their own stretch or slice of the beach unless you are a member of their resort. It’s the best swimming beach because of its mild wave action and also for waterskiing, fishing and windsurfing.
