Possible/Worthwhile? | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

a friend is flying into Cayo Coco for a week, but would like to spend the 2nd week of theirholiday in Santa Maria.is is possible, or even worthwhile, to rent a private taxi and drive there??

thoughts?

Anything is possible of course. They’re about 220 km apart. I have no clue what a taxi will cost but since your pal is a captive client with little option for negotiation I’d assume they’d get nailed pretty hard on the fare… maybe 150 – 175 CUC?… I don’t know…Cheers,

Terry

Like Cheersterry mentioned everything is possible The best way would be once he is in the first hotel to talk with people who work there and try to find good private taxi so that he/she can negotiate good price.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, I’m not suggesting that this is a bad idea, but I do question whether the trip is really worth it considering the cost and distance and that CSM really doesn’t offer anything that CC does not. Plus I’m assuming that the return flight will require a trip back to Cayo Coco. I can certainly understand wanting a change of pace on a two week vacation though. Maybe a change to Cayo Guillermo for the second week would be worth looking at? It’s certainly a much shorter trip. Something to consider at least.

There are many options that may not be cost prohibitive depending on how badly they want to go to CSM and if they need to return to CC for return flight .I can give you $ amounts if you pm me with their plans .

The farthest we went by taxi, when in Matanzas, was to Cienfuegos. It was 200k and only cost us $60CUC. We went by taxi from there to Trinidad which was 83k and cost $30CUC.

We hailed the taxis from wherever they congregated around the square. We’d find one who spoke decent English and a fair quote, then arrange for him to pick us up at our casa on whatever day or time we needed to leave.

I agree 100%, the only thing in CSM has the CC doesn’t is they have a fake Pueblo, big deal, certainly not worth a trip for that. However, maybe a trip to the city of Trinidad. I did that trip by hired cab from Cayo Guillermo and it was really something to see.
