pricing seems high | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

I once read on "that other forum" a post from a woman who had gifted her "Cuban family" with a toilet seat, mostly for her own convenience when she visited. She was quite incensed when on her return the toilet seat was nowhere to be seen. They probably sent it to the black market in exchange for something they really valued!

But this has nothing to do with the high price of trips, so I guess I should mention that it doesn’t seem prices are coming down much at the moment.

The price and upgrades of seats is always a valid topic here, LOL
Was able to book 2 nights in Orlando, 2 nights in Ccoco Beach, and a 4 night Bahamas cruise, including flights out of Moncton, for cheaper than a trip to Cuba….now theres a first!!! Wow!! Does this take the US/CDN dollar exchange into account? What about meals/drinks in Orlando & Coco Beach? Are they included? Did you add roughly 20% to your total cost for items you must pay in US dollars when you did the comparison?I’ve never seen $100 4 day deals for Cuba from anywhere in Canada. Obviously I lead a sheltered life here on the West Coast.Enjoy your vacation Monctonguy!

Great deal, for sure.
I’ve seen AI CUC199, 4 day, 3 night deals from Havana to Cayo Largo.

Na, can’t be. Monctonguy wouldn’t fall for this kind of stuff. He’s an experienced traveller isn’t he?
monctonguy’s August trip to CSM sounds like a time share…Sign up once and you’re committed for the rest of your life unless you have a good lawyer and it will still cost you a bundle to get out of the contract.
Nope….I booked all my trip stops and stays myself…..less than $1500 and includes all my food and drinks and exchange rates…:)

Why would my trip un August to Cuba sound like a time share??? does Cuba have time shares?? I am staying at the Hotel Playa Cayo Santa Maria, booked through ACV!

Ha Ha. Bigjohn alluded to you being the Groom, LOL

Oh…its not my wedding…thats a contract I wont be signing anytime soon..lol….going down for a friends wedding….can’t talk him out of it..I am just going along for the excuse to go south..haha

Why would my trip in August to Cuba sound like a time share???

It didn’t to me! You clearly said you were going for a friend’s wedding in August. I think the time share reference was alluding to your upcoming Orlando Bahamas cruise trip. The TA link was an old one from several years ago. Must have taken some time to track the link down.$1500 for the upcoming trip sounds good to me considering food, booze and exchange rates are factored in. Enjoy!

He was likening a wedding to a Time Share, not saying the trip was a time share.

LOL

I was alluding to the broken up trip as sounding like the "you’ve won a free vacation" time share scam. Glad it was all booked by you, personally, but I was looking forward to meeting you at Kawama later this month!

LOL

Well if Sunwing has some absurdly last min deals like they have the past 2 years at the end of season, you still may see me there….lol.

I have seen Kawama for $35 plus taxes for 4 nights out of Halifax at end of season, so fingers are still crossed. But based on pricing this winter, I am not holding out much hope…yet!

If you get one of those deals let me know. As long as I can park my car in your driveway I can drive it straight through 18 hours give or take. We can share the cab to the airport.

Yeah….mel de sur was $25, Aguas Azules was $89….5 star resorts were $200 plus taxes…..got lucky 2 years in a row…..but i havent seen any signs of these types of deals yet.

Taxes stay the same with Sunwing no matter what……..they do with most charter package deals south…Sunwing, ACV, Air Transat etc…those were the base prices plus taxes….

Amazing deals to say the least.

Sunwing taxes for Halifax to Varadero are $324.

So if I book 4 days, 2 weeks or 4 weeks AI with Sunwing, HLX to VRA taxes are the same?
I am truly curious. I break it down to all in, how much per day? I don’t look at before tax prices and never considered 4 day trips.

I find numbers interesting so I did a quick search on Sunwing…

1.) Halifax to Hotel Oasis Islazul departing April 26 for 4 days: $655 + Taxes $325

2.) Halifax to Hotel Oasis Islazul departing April 26 for 7 days: $675 + Taxes $359

3.) Halifax to Hotel Oasis Islazul departing April 26 for 14 days: $955 + Taxes $359

The taxes certainly don’t vary much between a 4 day trip and a 14 day trip…Cheers,

Terry

My understanding is the taxes are the airport tax. so if you take-off once and land once the stay of 4 days, 2 weeks or a month would all be the same. If I am reading it correctly…. the variation of 4 days or the week might have been an anomaly of the specific day
