Rainy Season & Bugs !! | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

wossa Guest Hola….. ;DWe are looking to visit Honduras, possibly Utila, during the Autumn, late October time. We have been advised that this is the rainy season, and the rainy season also brings out the bugs ??Can anyone advise how ”wet” the rainy season is, and also just how bad the bugs are at this time of year. Is it as bad as it sounds, or nothing to worry about ??Any advise would be awesome…..Cheers !Wossa……… ;D
Hey WossaAll I can find out is yes, it is their rainy season in October and they get lots and lots of rain. Since it rains so much, apparently not many tourists travel to Honduras during October.Where there is rain there is mosquito’s and bugs so I am not into getting eaten alive in October.

February was bad enough with all of the mosquito’s and sand fleas etc….. I still have a couple little scares on my legs from the bites.

I think we better hold off until February to head to Honduras again and perhaps look into Cuba for October.

wossa Guest Well you know I turn into an instant ‘girl’ when anything that has more than two legs comes within a mile of me…. :o…so I am with you… ;)…..plus, all it seems to do in the UK right now is rain and rain…. :-[…so that just seals the deal on going elsewhere in October….. ;D………away from bugs and rain !!Wossa………. ;D

Hey I think I have a spare coconut bra and a hula skirt I can throw your way when your feelin the need let out a scream I am sure we can paint some tribal art on you and you will be sure to fit right in some where.

If your going to Cuba in October do you think you can cram me in a suitcase? I think I can fold myself up pretty good, its not too cold in October yet.

Deputy

wossa Guest DeputyThank you so much for the offer of the use of your coconut bra and hula skirt…….really those cross dressing rumours of me are simply not true… ::)……However I could of used them in Cozumel last month when this ”thing” was sitting on the steps to our appartment…..my feminine side does unavoidably tend to come out when there’s a spider within a 10 mile radius… :o….and it doesn’t help when Freedom says ”Wossa, come get a close up of this”……..thank God the camera has an anti-shake on it, as I was trying not to pass out whilst trying to get this man-eating spider to say ”Tequila” for the camera…… ;D ;D

Freedom I havent forgotten……..

Wossa……… ;D

I had an old roommate that hated bats I had to hang one on her light one night when she came home from the bar one night… ;D ;D Never laughed so hard in my life…

We all have our vices… ;D ;D

Too Funny Deputy!!!!!!!!!!!!OMG …………..The Wos Man would have a major heart attack on the spot if you hung a spider near him. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;DIt took all he had to take the picture of the tarantula in Cozumel. I kept the pressure on him and forced him into taking the picture.

It was too funny……….. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

We were walking up the stairs to our hotel room when all of a sudden we spotted the tarantula on the stairs. We had to actually walk by it to get up the rest of the stairs to our room.

I told Wossa if he took the picture I would block the spider in case it moved so it would not bite him………. If he did not take the picture then he had a 50/50 chance of the tarantula not attacking him when he stepped on the stairs to go to the room, jejejejeje.

I really think he just wanted to go back down to the main floor and sleep there for the evening as he was not too interested in getting any where near the hairy little monster.

With a lot more persuasion he finally got the camera steady enough to snap off a couple of picture and let out a couple of scared little screams.

I still crack up when I think about that evening. OMG, to tell you the truth I was a little worried as well that the hairy creature was going to lunge at us as we walked past it.

Freedom Ryder 8-)……………….

wossa Guest Thanks Freedom……you could of lied for me and made me out to be some kind of Indiana Jones type hero ……….instead of saying ” I let out a couple of scared little screams”… The worst thing was, when we came back out of the room, and the thing had gone from the step……..I was like……..ohhhhh Sher, it’s gone……..but where has it gone….. :o…….from then on, I just had visions of it swooping down from the ceiling to take my life every time we went back to the room.

A small price to pay for such an awesome week though….

Wossa……….. ;D

Poor little spidey just trying to make his way in life, prolly hoping someone puts him…OR her in his pocket and takes him/her to some sort of new freedom abroad where he can live the high life.

BUT NO, he had to stay there, on those hard cold cement steps to prolly endure some child poking sticks at him

Poor Spidey

Deputy ;D ;D ;D

wossa Guest

Mate, you have obviously not grasped the concept of the size of this ”poor spidey”…….in reality it was the size of a small family car, and had arms (or legs) built like Popeye…. ::)…you could of put a saddle on the back of it and rode it home if it would let you, but I fear it was not that willing to participate in such an event…….

It was more likely to be poking sticks at the children rather than the children poking sticks at it……..this was a complete freak of nature, and had no right to be loitering like a hoody thug on the steps of our fully paid up appartment…..

Spidey……..be gone with you !……..

Wossa……… ;D

hoody thug..Oh my gosh, I have fallen and cant get up…someone call an ambulance, I need some oxygen I cant breathe….I cant quit laughing!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;DYou are a city boy arent you Wos? I think you need to come on out to the Deputy Dog Deep Woods Ranch and see what kind of wild life I got slithering out here…LOL. ;D I think I could bottle up enough laughs to be howling at the moon for a month. You and Freedom can come on down to Merica and I can take you on a big old road trip…LOL if you can handle all the critters around here.

Deputy ;D ;D ;D

wossa Guest Yes I am a city boy Deputy….. ;)…is it that obvious…. ;D….is it my natural ability to be at one with nature that gives my city life away……. When I stay with Freedom, I mail her about 6 weeks in advance and say, ”please commence de-spidering the house”……. :o…….how she even tolerates my pathetic demands must drive her to despair…… ;DFor sure Freedom & I would join you on the road trip, as long as there is plenty of Tequila and no rubber play spiders…. ;)…oh, and you might also have to drive, as I could never master driving on the wrong side of the road……Freedom trusted me to drive her truck once, and it was down a deserted road that went in a straight line…….this was after I said ” Freedom, just remind me if I stray over onto the other carriageway, as I tend to forget what lane I should be in”……..funny enough I didn’t get to drive on the freeway….. ;D ;DWossa……… ;D

Hey Wossa, don’t feel left out here, when it comes to creepy crawly things I’m no hero. I don’t mind spiders too much, but for me it’s the slithery slimy "snake word". My cousin tossed one in a hammock with me once when I was a kid, and I "never forgave him" for it. I got him back though, when it was his turn in the hammock, I cut the rope (accidentally), and he landed in a pile of stumps and roots……toooooo bad for him, we still don’t speak.

Wos? How do you go camping? Do you leave a mat at the door of your tent that says "NO HOODY THUGS ALLOWED?" ;D

As for the driving, I am sure you would fit in just fine around here, no one seems to know how to drive around here any way! I suppose we can saddle up a horse and give it a good slap on the rear, and you will be on your way ;D ;D, No need to be on any side of the road. ;D ;D ;D

wossa Guest Ms Deputy……..I have not camped since I ‘resigned’ from the ‘cubs’ after about 2 days of being with them……. ;D….Do you have the ‘cubs’ in the US of A….. ???……. it’s like a thing you join as a boy, where you learn how to tie various knots, light fires from rubbing two sticks together and how to make a tent…….all of which are useless and completely pointless exercises…..as to this day I have never been in a life threatening position where I have needed to tie a knot, light a fire or feel the need to make my own shelter…..However, if they taught me how to roll the perfect cigarette….. ;)……remove the top of a beer bottle without chipping your teeth, and the rules for playing poker, then maybe’s I would of stuck around longer……. ;DBut as for your original question……you wont catch me in some skanky tent with no proper bathroom facilities……. ;D

Wossa……… ;D

SKANKY TENT! I will have you know…we have the best bathroom facilities money can buy when we go on trail rides with our horses… ;D ;D

I guess going to Egypt or Africa on a safari wouldnt be any fun for you cause you would have to camp huh? Have you ever seen a camel spider?

Geez, I wouldn’t be afraid of all the little creatures in the woods… its those bigger things that you cant see ya know…like blair witch!

Besides when your camping you usually have way to much to drink and you forget about everything else that goes bump, buzz or, "Wossa I am here to suck your blood, I am the hoody thug spidey" I can’t believe you flunked Cub Scouts. I was a brownie ;DSo you and Freedom planning on Honduras for Feb?

Deputy

wossa Guest ”Flunked Cubs”……I resigned I will have you know…… ::)…….sitting around camp fires, singing songs, and eating half cooked food whilst it chucked it down with rain was not my idea of fun……. You do strike me as the Brownie type…….did you get your sewing badge ?

I have done the Egypt thing a few times and they have awesome AI’s……..really, there is absolutely no need to camp anywhere in the world… ;D….I simply refuse… ;D….God bless AI’s. The horse trails sound awesome though, I would be right up for that….

OMG….I have indeed seen a camel spider….. there was a picture of a soldier in the dessert of Iraq or somewhere, and he had killed some…. :o…..grossed me out that I couldn’t touch the magazine in case it suddenly came back to life and ripped my hand off as I turned the page……..I would just throw myself out of the top floor window if one of those things was in the same room as me……

Yes so anyways, back on to travel…..(I wont be able to sleep now thinking of jacked up hoody camel spiders)…..Yes Freedom and I are planning to to go to Honduras in Feb, we wanted to go sooner, but we was advised that it is the rainy season, and full of bugs to go in October. So we think we will head to Cuba in October, maybe Mexico, and then hopefully we can get a good deal on Honduras, and head that way for a week in Feb, and do a bit of diving and exploring…..but no camping…..

Wos Man…………. ;D

”Flunked Cubs”……I resigned I will have you know…… You do strike me as the Brownie type…….did you get your sewing badge ?

I did get my sewing badge, as a matter of fact I am going to use that sewing badge to sew myself a nice patch on a tshirt that says "AUTHENTIC HOODY THUG"

It is going to be the biggest fashion craze since the 80’s! Are you sure you don’t want to come to Cozumel in February instead of Honduras? Your going to miss the party!! LOL! Maybe I should sew it on a pair of shorts then I have my wonder woman tshirt, my hoody thug shorts, and my goggles…with a pair of cowboy boots…who would mess with me It would be on like donkey kong!
