YES!!! I remember this card from last year…first time I ever had to fill it out….it freaked me out because we were flying with West Jet and they had a very generous baggage allowance…something like 60kg each…so we had at least 120lbs of "giveaways" with us….anyhow, I filled out the card….zero value…but no one ever asked me for it….
anyhow, I am sure it will all be ok….I just always get paranoid around this time……7 sleeps to go!!!

thanks Bigjohn and Freedom Ryder…don’t think I am prepared to describe "potential accidents :-)" but meeting family members is a good idea….

I have never been questioned either…but there is always a first time for everything…so it is good to be prepared….

so every year I get a little paranoid about the amount of stuff I am bringing….we are taking 4 big enough suitcases (going club transat so we have the extra baggage)…we are bringing ….shoes…(new for my freind’s kids)…tampons, boxes of tylenol ….full suitcase of used clothing for young girls (and we are not travelling with kids)…etc…anyhow, I always worry that I will get stopped and asked questions…has this ever happened to anyone…and what do you say…….

flew westjet last year (Air Transat was the tour operator)…we were allowed the west jet allowances, it was fantastic…we brought so much stuff to give away it was obscene….lots and lots of children/adult clothes…this year we booked Club Transat to get a little extra baggage…..no way we could do it with only 20KG each…..

Last year at the Melia Cayo Guillermo we were told several times that spanish/english dictionaries would be VERY MUCH appreciated…this is an item that they just can’t get…that doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate all the other stuff…it is just that they CAN GET most things but they CAN’T GET dictionaries….but that aside I found that gently used clothing was a big hit…especially name brand shoes (nikes etc), jeans, also skin care stuff…and I found some of the guys really enjoyed the hair gels, colognes, and other personal care stuff. This eyar we have booked Club Transit just for the extra weight..and I have so many clothes, make up….even tools …mind you they are nto expensive…but they are screw driver sets….etc that I got reduced somewhere…….also I have shoes for the children of some of the resort staff that we have become friendly with over the years………I have found shoes are ALWAYS a big hit….

I go antipating the food won’t be great…..but I have never starved. I always find something to eat….

So I have never had to pay a deposit for towel….yet I read in a review that someone had to pay 20 CUCs for their towel (returned at the end). Anyone else have a similar experience?

tell her to email [email protected]
she is a travel agent who specializes in destination weddings and she is located in the Ottawa area but can arrange travel from any city…she is fluent in spanish so can liase directly with the resort to ensure that all your sisters expectations are met etc…..also I believe she can do the document translation….

I know weight is always an issue…but one year when we went to the DR we each put a large bottle of Motts Clamato juice in our carry on (guess that would be a problem these days but if you could get it in your checked baggage??) anyhow, that was a big hit at the resort…

Hi,We have travelled to the DR (both coasts) and Cuba a bunch of times. We are looking for something different but don’t know what to do. Costa Rica looks fantastic. The deal we are looking at is in Jaco Beach and includes 2 meals a day. My question is ….What do people think about Jaco Beach…is it worthwhile to stay there for 7 days….is there lots to do…we want to see wildlife…do some kayaking…ziplines..etc…

please advise soon as I am worried the deals will disappear….as there is a reduced tax sale on now….

We have been to Cayo Coco several times so know what to expect….and there is a good deal out of Montreal for Feb right now….also good deals for Brisas Sierra Mar in Santiago….and Brisas Santa Lucia in Camaguey……anybody have any advice??????

what is there to see and do (off the resort) in Camaguey and Santiago…we like hiking..sites etc…..

so this will be the first time that we are not going all inclusive. We will likely be staying in the Jaco beach area. What should we expect to pay for meals and beverages…I think our breakfast is included…also there is a fridge in the room so we can purchase some water etc to keep in the fridge….

Has anybody been or know of it, I can’t find any reviews…also what excursions are offered out of Jaco beach????

it is pretty cheap, has "decent" reviews….everyone says pretty much the same thing…great food…basic hotel…nice people…just looking for some more recent info…the only reviews I could find are on trip advisor from the fall………can anybody give me some general insight into St.martin…what to do…we have traditionally gone to cuba and the DR.

Good question…was wondering the same thing myself

watkins insect repellent…high deet content…and a nice cream that does not stink and is not sticky…you need to find a watkins representative…check on line..or in the phone book…a little expensive….maybe about $15 for a bottle but it lasts a long time and is really really good.

We were there 8 – 15th Feb…had a great time….great weather ….it was all good….our review will be up soon…but in the meantime if you have any questions….please feel free to ask.

we usually reserve about $50 for tipping….but it depends….so $1.00 for the maid daily…plus a gift or two….$1.00 for each waiter at each meal (not always depends if we actually get some attention…sometime you are in and out and no one really does anything for you) a la cartes we usually tip $2.00…and then here and there for drinking…so not every drink..just as we feel like it……..

I have some left over from a dental procedure….I thought I would bring them and give them to the hotel doctor? is this a good idea?

hey kodi….you are going to have a wonderful vacation…your kindness, thoughtfulness and generousity will be appreciated…and returned with the same from the cubans you will meet and befriend…..
