So this may be the least read and slowest of all the travel boards, but wondering if anyone has any tips for me?Heading to St. Lucia Feb 6 for a week, staying at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian. So looking forward to the warm weather, and I have noticed that is stays within 2 degrees all day and night! Can hardly wait!

Rene, Not all banks in rural Alberta carry Mexican Pesos, and if this new policy was very strict, I wouldn’t even be able to get any at all.I am sure that not all banks in all countries in the world carry Mexican Pesos, but most will carry American, the much used currency that is easiest to exchange. So simply my question was can I bring American or Canadian to exchange, and the answer turns out to be yes!~Thanks all.I also heard from the Air Canada Vacations Rep at the hotel we are staying at and she concurrs that large purchases would require Pesos, but the banks will still convert either American or Canadian.

Debbie

Does anyone know anything about this new policy? Is it for real, or is it just hype?Does this mean that you can still bring Canadian or American to change over at banks but not use at vendors?ACV Advisory: Peso-only policyAIR CANADA VACATIONS has advised that effective September 14, all travellers to Mexico will be required to use Mexican pesos, as it will be the only currency accepted. American and Canadian dollars will no longer be accepted in the country. The use of international credit cards is unaffected as transactions will continue to be processed in Mexican pesos, as per current practice. It is recommended that travellers bring Mexican pesos and/or credit cards to avoid difficulties.

Well if I had frizzy hair, I wouldn’t bother, poker straight that needs some direction sometimes and the high temps of a flat iron works!
Thanks for the input!

I have ordered a flat iron that is 220-240v designed for Europe, hoping that with a simple adapter I will be able to use it!

Been searching and haven’t yet found any idea of what a plug in looks like in St. Lucia!I realize the voltage is different than Canada, but wonder what adapter I should bring along, any help would be appreciated!Debbie

Does anyone know if there is any good snorkeling at any resort in Varadero?
Debbie

I was asked twice once back in Canada.

YOu will need it only when you arrive back in Canada!YOu do not need it to leave Canada or enter Cuba!

Having been to both, there are pros and cons to each.Blau, has more man things to do?? SOunds weird but they have target shooting, and competitions. On a rainy night, you can stay dry at the Blau as all buildings are connected and have covered walkways!PCV has larger selection in buffet, larger areas, bigger rooms. The snorkeling is the same from both beaches, it is the same beach, the distance is inconsequential. Seriously, both have their strong points. We chose to go PCV more often as they didn’t charge for kids over 3, but the Blau does!I would choose on price!

We were there in January of 2009 and those in Select Club were segregated from the others! The friends we had in there were not happy with the distance to everything. They requested a change and got it!I will be there March 20th for a week.I am hoping to have a room poolside!

Just curious if anyone knows if there is internet service at the Allegro Nuevo Vallarta? If so, how much? In the rooms?

The price drop guarantee prompted me to also use itravel2000, but not instead of a travel agent, but instead of another online site!I have found in the last few months, that the TA’s can’t not only get close, but are at least $100 dollars out!Being from the west, adding another $100 really makes the bill steep! We were fortunate to find a very good price for January, and are not expecting a check back on the price drop guarantee, but figured may as well book there, just in case!

Last year and the year before ACV offered Holguin via Toronto, it is not an option this year! It woudl sure add to the cost to have to fly to Toronto on our own!Not sure I am willing to do that either!

Will have to wait until maybe next year when it might be offered again!

I got excited because Holguin became available on the drop down list, but when I tried to get prices, none were available.I am afraid that time is running out!

Maybe they can fill Holguin hotels with Eastern Canada and European passengers?

Here’s hoping. We did it two years ago with Air Canada but had to go through Toronto, and really don’t want to have to do that again! It sure makes a traveler weary when they have to overnight, and deal with time changes!I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Debbie

I think the most disappointing thing is I cannot get a price to Holguin from Calgary, there just isn’t an option! I was really looking forward to Holguin this year!

Debbie

We were unable to get any pricing from Calgary for anyone else but Air Canada, up till this past week or so! Maybe it is yet to come?

It never seems like too long of a drive, not many miles, just very bumpy roads with lots of atmosphere! LOLI remember it always being under 1 hour!Always an entertaining drive!

Their own snorkel equipment, the resorts don’t usually have anything to fit young kids! A couple of practices in your local pool or bathtub wouldn’t hurt either!
