While I wouldn’t necessarily refer to it as “progress”, it was bound to happen sooner or later. It will be a requisite for ferry service from Florida, which will probably have Cuban-Americans as the main target.

We’ve seen guests get help from workers at every resort. Watched a man leave his chair and the staff carried him and his walker down 2 flights of steps to the beach at Ole Playa Blanca.
The Sol at Cayo Coco is a very flat property from the lobby to the pool and a gentle pathway to the beach. Lots of staff to help. No problem from the ground level rooms to the Pools, Buffet and Lobby.

Hello all I got email from nice lady and she needs help as she wants to travel to Cuba with her husband who needs wheelchair accessible resort in Cuba. Anyone who can help please answer below."Hi we are looking for wheelchair accessible resort in Cuba close to the airport My husband has MS AND cannot get out of his scooter. He cannot walk. We r looking for a resort that he can get into the pool and get to the beach He would need wheelchair transportation. To and from the airport as he cannot get out of his wheelchair/scooter. "

Thank you all!

That’s a darn shame considering how helpful this is. I wish the authors would visit and help some of our members too.
How about it FC and HK?

It’s interesting that with all the hard work that went into compiling that information, some travelers looking for accurate information have been quite ungrateful about the information provided.

I’ve been to both resort in 2015. As everybody says, the beach is much nicer at SRLM than at Playa Pesquero. Both are great resorts I would not hesitate to recommend any of the two. The snack bar next to the luna pool makes (to me) the best burgers and the French Bistro is hands down the best a la carte I’ve been to in 6 trips. But overall I still think food was a tad better at Playa Pesquero. For one, you can have free lobster at any (I think) a la carte restaurant! The little "boulevard" at Playa Pesquero was a nice place to eat and have a drink. Mojitos are excellent as is the chicken at the El Catuco mojito bar. Things worth noting is that there are a lots of steps to get to the beach from the Mares side, or you have to take the long way around via the luna side. Also Playa Pesquero is a very large resort. That could be an issue for people with limited mobility.

If you have any specific question just ask and I’ll be happy to answer.

Thanks for the review CuGeorge!

Admin – I’ve been to the Luna Mares and to Playa Costa Verde when it was a Breezes, and I much prefer the beach at the Luna Mares (Playa Esmeralda). So if the beach is a factor, I would recommend the Luna y Mares. I would venture a guess that food would be better at Playa Pesquero though, but I personnally find PP too big for my liking.

Thank you for the great review! Opening section is now fixed for you! I have friend who would like to visit Holguin in September. Have you ever been in Playa Pesquero? He was thinking should he go to Playa Pesquero or Sol Río de Luna y Mares Resort so would great if you been to both resorts.Regarding pictures please be patient as we are working to make it possible soon so that you can post in the thread.

I have not stayed at the Playa Pesquero resort but have stayed at the Blau Costa Verde and also at Memories Holguin.

Cuba has sent a team of 53 doctors and paramedics from the Henry Reeve Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations to Ecuador. Many doctors with that team have previous experience following earthquakes in Haiti and Pakistan. Some of the 600+ medical professionals who are already in Ecuador as part of Cuba’s medical internationalism program have also been deployed to the areas affected by the earthquake.

My latest review for the SLRM has been posted. I messed up on the cut and pasting etc. so I have sent a request for an edit. The second paragraph in the opening section was meant for the end of the entire review as you will see.

It was another great vacation. The resort definitely shows its age but there have been some nice improvements and it looks like there will be more to come. The overall experience for me and my friends was just as good if not better than my first two visits.I forgot to mention that I flew with Cubana/Hola regular economy both ways. The flight down was on an Airbus A319 and the leg room was deplorable and the seats were allowed to recline back way too far IMHO. The return flight was on an Airbus A320 and the legroom was the best I have experienced on a charter airline to the Caribbean. The service on board and meal both ways was pretty good . Please note that there was no online entertainment system on the flight down and back. I watched recorded movies on my tablet. I think the Cubana service was better than Air Transat and Air Canada Rouge IMHO. Sunwing Airlines is my favourite so far. We chose Cubana/Hola due to the dates and earlier morning flight times.

I will be glad to answer any questions.  I took some pictures and hope to post them in the near future.

"no where near a pro YET! " if not yet, you are definitely on your way. Did you write a blog this time? The blog from the first trip was great.

Thanks Mad: We have a good friend in Chivirico who is married to an MD. He was sent to Ecuador about 10-14 days ago; we thought he’d be home for a while after a long posting in Africa with the Ebola crisis. Our prayers and thoughts are with them now. If I get any new info, I’ll post the update.

That is soooo true! We’ve been back about 10 days and just now feeling back on track. We had to laugh — when we got home, we couldn’t remember where things were in the kitchen. And the first meal (breakfast) I cooked, I forgot to turn on the burner. Then I forgot to pop down the toaster! Jeez!

Welcome back Benni. I hope weather was great and that you have new memories to remember and tell. It’s not always easy to get back into daily routine once you are back from long trip!

I have often thought that some of the ‘removed by Trip Advisor community’ posts have actually been removed by the Moderators and they just insert the ‘Community’ template. It’s just my theory, nothing else.

Iggy, I’m sorry but somehow I didn’t see your post until now.The casa was $25 per night with breakfast for $4, dinner for $8-10.Our room was huge with a full size bed and a twin one. A large 4-drawer dresser plus a wardrobe with shelves on one side, closet on the other, and 3 drawers at the bottom. There is also a luggage rack and — a big plus for us — a full size refrigerator that worked great! It was in a small room (where you have a private entrance) which also had a small table and 2 chairs. The bathroom was full size with lots of shelving and hooks. Strong water pressure and plenty of hot water. We loved it there and felt like family.
