Hello there: Our family is flying to Puerto Plata on Dec. 26 for a holiday and our daughter who lives in Hamilton, Ontario has to renew her passport. Hers runs out Nov. 9, 2008. Any Hamiltonians out there who can recommend the quickest way to renew it in that area? Thanks!

Hello Wendy:Thanks for your comments and I appreciated reading your other passport link that you provided. So are you going to the passport office in the Standard Life Building on King St. W.? That is where I directed my daughter to go. She does have the simplified renewal forms with her old passport so hopefully all goes well and quickly. I would REALLY appreciate hearing how your visit there goes, since my daughter probably won’t get there until late this week or early next as she is working all day. She is going to get her photos taken at Shoppers. Do they guarantee the pics there?

Hi lilyvYes, I’ll be going to the passport office at the Standard Life building. I’ll probably be there Friday morning, as I have the day off.I don’t know about photo guarantees at Shoppers Drug Mart. I do know when we had trouble with Sears photos 5 years ago they refunded our money (said the new guidelines were too difficult to achieve). We then had our photos done at Blacks Photography. Those photos were accepted with no problem.I’ll let you know how it goes when I return.

I renewed our passports earlier today. We got to the office at 11.10 am, and were given a "d" number. It was a 5 minute wait, but we were the next to be called. It took about 10 minutes to process two renewals, and we were out the door by 11.25. I was quite pleased.While we were there, there were about 20 or so people either waiting or being served. By the time we left, it was starting to get a little busier, maybe about 30 people. Nowhere near the volume of people from 5 years ago. At that time there was easily65-70 people, and a 2 1/2 hour wait.Hope that helps. |
