Resort | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

Was just wondering if the Royal Decameron is the only resort ? Have not read much about any other resorts. If so, I am a beach person , would you recommend this resort?

From Canada, there’s not a lot of choice for El Salvador. And while the RDC is spectacular as a property, I can’t say the same for the beach – at the resort. About a 10 foot difference between high and low tides, not a lot of sand at high tide, and a long walk to the water at low tide. Now they DO have access to their "beach club" an interesting 30 minute bus ride that leaves twice a day where the beach is very long and great for walking, but with a very strong rip-tide. Our guide told us if we ventured more than waist deep be sure you were a very strong swimmer or that you had your passport as the next land you saw would be Australia.I have some pics of both beaches I’ll try and post and send you a link.

We enjoyed El Salvador for the people, scenery and Mayan ruins, I don’t think I’d call it a great beach destination.

Just to underscore what MacPete said regarding the riptide. The week before we got there last year, one of the tourists from Montreal got swept out at the beach club. Apparently the life guard was able to save three people, but not the fourth.

Be careful out there.
