Riu Ocho Rios Reviews – Jamaica Hotels – Riu Ocho Rios

I would not hesitate to recommend the Riu Ocho Rios. I am somewhat surprised by some of the negative reviews…but then again, some people expect perfection in everything and that to me is not what makes a wonderful holiday. The RIU resort itself was beautiful and very clean. The staff were very personable and accommodating (and for those who felt otherwise, maybe think about how you related to them; a poor attitude anywhere will usually not be met with a warm reception). The St. Anne’s restaurant (buffet) was incredible. We had no problem finding a variety of foods that we enjoyed – both for breakfast and dinner. We never went hungry and never felt worried about getting sick. Again, everything was very clean and all the food was well prepared. As far as the resort itself, it was wonderful. The open air lobby with its warm sea breezes and rattan furniture was so inviting. The beach was wonderful. The sand was soft, the palm trees were plentiful (which was great for when we wanted to lie in the shade), and the staff were continously picking up any empty cups, etc left by guests. I could go on and on about the great time we had, but I believe that anyone who has travelled to various islands, and therefore understands that things may not always be as they are at home, will truly appreciate this resort in Ocho Rios. A highlight not to miss is the experience of climbing Dunn River Falls.

Your Arrival:
Warm reception, with a rum punch beverage offered as soon as we disembarked the bus.

Very clean and plenty of in-room beverages in the complmentary mini-fridge and liquor dispenser (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). The pillows were not the greatest (very lumpy) and the bed a bit hard, but this did not spoil our holiday in the least.

Restaurants and Bars:
Excellent. St. Anne’s for breakfast, Mammee Bay and the Jerk Chicken Hut for lunch, and St. Anne’s again for dinner. We never went hungry.

Wonderful and well kept!

Activities on and off the Resort/Hotel:
Climginb the Dunn River Falls is a must! An incredible experience.
