Royal DeCameron Club Caribbean Reviews – Jamaica Hotels – Royal DeCameron Club Caribbean

The Royal Decameron Club Caribbean was a perfect getaway for us. It is just off the main highway, but quiet and comfortable. It is not fancy, but it is clean and beautifully landscaped. If you are looking for a resort with fancy amenities, this is not the place for you. We were in a garden view cottage. Think of these as your summer cottage with outdated furniture and decor. However, they were very spacious and kept very clean. There is a little closet-like room with an iron and ironing board and lots of space for clothes, suitcases, shoes, etc. RDCC is in an area where you can leave the resort and go to some local shops. Try Pauline’s Shop just outside the gates, on the first corner. Her husband, Bob, runs "Bob’s Cool Tours" and we would highly recommend him. Tell him where you would like to go and what you want to see and he will do just that for you for a price more reasonable than the tours through the resort. We went to Coyaba gardens (beautiful) and Fern Gully (beautiful tropical rainforest), stopped briefly in Ocho Rios to shop, on to Dunn’s River Falls, through the town of St. Ann’s and stopped at Scotchie’s for excellent jerk pork and chicken. We were gone for about 4 hours and it was $70 US for both of us. The resort itself is on a decent strip of beach. This is one of the cleanest beaches that we have seen – staff were constantly raking and picking up garbage. Included with your package are many watersports, including a glass bottom boat trip and snorkelling trips. Because it was very windy and the red & yellow flag was up every day, we were only able to get out once snorkelling, but it was to a nice section of reef. There is reef visible from the hotel, but it was too choppy to try and swim out there when we were visiting. The food here is good, not gourmet, but we always found something good to eat. The main buffet Pick A Peppa has theme nights. The Jasmine Delta restaurant (to the extreme right if you are facing the ocean) is open 12-5 as a snack bar, and then as an a la carte restaurant at night. They have a lunch menu with the typical burgers, fries, pizza, etc, but they also have daily chef’s specials like curry goat, rice & peas, jerk wings, soups, etc. There is live music at the restaurant/bar during lunch and dinner. There is nighly entertainment which is very loud, so take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. There are cats & kittens at this resort and they live under the deck & bushes by the Jasmine Delta snack bar. They are skittish, but learned that when we came to our chairs down there, we were bringing food and water. The staff tolerate them, but we don’t think they feed them. This end of the beach is very quiet, as is the adult only pool. There are lots of activities around the main pool and loud music if you are looking for more action.

If you are a reasonable traveller looking for a c
