I am very curious to know:Has anyone on this forum done any Scuba Diving in Belize?.I hear the Scuba Diving is amazing, apparently it is better than Cozumel as well as Honduras. My Diving "Buddy" and I want to venture on a Scuba Diving Holiday and also enjoy some rest and relaxation as well.
We are looking for a little "Fun in the Sun" and some quality "Underwater Time". Freedom Ryder |

WOW……………The Scuba Diving in Belize look totally amazing.I seen a great resort that I checked out but it is hard to get there.Everything has to be booked separately and it is so time consuming. It is difficult to get the flight booked when the accommodations are not booked yet.Any thoughts from anyone on this forum that are Scuba Divers that Dive and vacation in Belize!Do you book your own flight / Accommodations/ Diving, separate or do you go through a Travel agent that specializes in Scuba Diving Holidays?.Thanks for any and all thoughts on this,

Hey Freedom, thought I’d throw another destination at you. Have you looked at Bonaire? I’ve heard it’s a great scuba location as well. |

Hey N2CI have not looked at Bonaire but I will certainly check it out.Wossa and I are looking for destinations that have awesome Scuba Diving. We want to visit all the awesome destinations and see what there is to see. It really is amazing what you will find under the water that we don’t even think about. Some things looks pretty creepy but that is the fun of it all. Freedom Ryder 8-)……………….. |

Sherry, Good luck with your research – so many places to dive, so little time ![]() Of course I have no idea of the availability and costs for flights to Bonaire from the UK – that could be a problem |

Good luck with your research – so many places to dive, so little time ![]() Of course I have no idea of the availability and costs for flights to Bonaire from the UK – that could be a problem WendyNo worries…………… I have all the time in the world. I get 9 weeks a year paid holidays so I have loads of time to vacation and dive. I get an extra 4 weeks in July this year as well. As for flights from the UK that is also no problem. Wossa will be flying from Canada with me. Thanks for your input. We will be booking something shortly for May and then we will go from there, booking the rest. Freedom Ryder 8-)………….. |

hey Freedom,We arranged our vacation by booking everything separately and it was actually quite easy. The country is very small and things are actually a lot closer than they seem.We flew in to Belize city and headed directly to the water taxi which took us to Caye Caulker for just 15$ Caye Caulker is an excellent base for arranging dives. The hotels on neighbouring Ambergris Caye are nicer but the dive excursions are a bit more expensive from there. I didn’t dive, just snorkeled, but the water is so shallow snorkling is almost as good as diving. For example: at shark/ray ally the water would have been about chest level if i had stood on the bottom – of course you can stand because there are hundred of stingrays on the bottom!Don’t worry about not getting an all inclusive deal. There are lots of great restaurants and they aren’t that expensive. We worked it out and our whole trip was probably cheaper than an all-inclusive would have been. Where are you thinking of staying? When are you going? Check out mayanisland air or tropic air for cheap/quick domestic flights within the country.my Belize photos are here if you’re interested. I still don’t have the underwater ones developed, but i’ll add them once i get them back.

We booked a manatee tour and snorkel tour thru them. The woman who runs it is Canadian and their hotel that they own looked reasonable – right in the middle of Caye Caulker. Looks like they can do a custom package with hotel and dive packages. There are a lot of other places on the island that do diving trips but they all are similar and go to similar places. www.tsunamiadventures.com |

I just spent 6 months scuba diving in Belize and it is hands down the best place to dive in the western Caribbean.I have logged over 1500 dives but the Blue hole is definitely the coolest dive I have ever done.Imagine the largest stalagtites you have ever seen starting at 130 feet and then we got greeted by a dozen reef sharks on our descent. They also have this night dive called the "String of Pearls" that is a must see!! It is outrageous. You have your choice of many private islands, there is the world renouned blue hole, and many large fish to play with! The marine life is way more abundant off of this little country than the neighboring ones since they actually conserve and protect most of their reefs!
Checkout my photos at www.flickr.com/photos/29946265@N00/ or at www.bigbluediveadventures.comI have travelles extensively in Belize and know tons of great diving, and accomodation. Email me if you have any questions. |
