My husband and I travelled to this hotel Sep 15 for one week. We were looking for that very special place to spend our 35th Wedding anniversary. We sure found it at SOL RIO DE LUNA Y MARES !!!! This is truly a very special kind of hotel and I will tell you why. To start with, the location of the hotel is phenomenal, the view of the ocean from anywhere you are ,lobby, pool, restaurants and rooms is breathtaking. The beach with its powdery white sand and perfect blue sea is a "snorkelers paradise" with fish of all colours and sizes just steps from the shore. The rooms, and the hotel in general are spotless clean and the restaurants and buffet area are always clean and tidy and found there was no problem with flies or birds inside these areas. Now , what I consider to be the best part of staying here is the staff of this hotel, everyone is polite, friendly, even funny at times and always ready to help you, from the front desk, the bartenders, our chambermaid Miladis,the waiters -special mention to Jose Antonio at the Mexican, waitresses like Clara, the cooks -special mention to Roger at the buffet , to the beach guy Juan and all the workers who always give you service with a smile. I believe all this is possible due to the fact that the hotel is run by a very professional, efficient , friendly and caring general manager Manuel Vazquez and his right hand Lisandro Ramos who is in charge of food and beverages at the hotel. You will see them always in the hotel area talking to the guests and making sure everything runs smoothly. This, in my opinion puts this hotel above all the others in the area. About the food, I must say I was quite impressed with the variety of fresh fish and seafood available at the buffet and cooked in front of you , the same with the bread , always nice and warm just out of the oven. There was a great variety of meats, salads, desserts and oh…the ice cream to die for, better than gelatto. It has 4 restaurants a la carte and the Italian being our favourite for its excellent salad bar, the French with its exquisite cuisine and service, the typical Mexican one, and last but not least The Romantico, on the beach with its great atmosphere. They also have a 24 hour snack bar that comes handy when your flight arrives late at night. It was a great holiday for both of us and we definitely recommend this hotel to couples , families with big and small children and singles.
