Space Bags – INCREDIBLE for Packing | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

check it out – www.spacebag.com – i just tried it and one of my piles of stuff to give away was about 8-9 inches and it ended up being 1.5-2 inches at the most and it weighed a pound less – even for those of you who want or need to towels, etc.

This information is of value to all our forum members so I am moving it to General Caribbean for wider viewing.

So, where did you buy them? I see this link is to an American site.

ordered from the US web site – they have them around Ontario in the Showcase "as seen on TV" stores but no selection of sets and much more expensive! but BOY oh BOY do they work

VERY USEFUL!!! especially if, once vacuumed they are lighter…which surprises me, but hey if its true, these are definitely worth shelling out the clams!!Great info!!!!

Deputy ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

In Canada you can get them at ‘Linens N Things’, and I have found them at Zellers and Canadian Tire. They don’t reduce weight, but volume sure disappears. At the stores I mentioned although they seemed a bit pricey to me at approx $20 for about 3 various sized bags, they held more stuff than I could have imagined and I’ve reused each one several times already. When I sucked the air out of one in which I was taking a nice new pair of bed pillows for my Cuban hostess, the result was only about 2.5 inches high and ‘light as pillows’, so I added clothes inside and they got ‘thinned out’ too. After a bit of a fluff-shake-out on arrival, there was little travel wrinkling. I’m a big fan!

PS – I prefer the kind of space=bag that uses a vacuum cleaner to get the air out, but there are hand-roll ones, so check the info on the pkg. For the return trip you may not use it anyway if your donating your excess, but in a pinch even the vacuum bags will let you force air out by hand. But watching the vacuum work its magic is really part of the fun!

I’ve considered these, but there is one thing…….what if customs decides to check your luggage? How would you be able to compact it again?

Wow…what a good question! I have used these every single trip. Just love them. I can’t begin to think of an answer for you because I know I would need a whole other suitcase if my space bags needed to be searched through!

Thanks for the suggestions of where to buy them in Canada…I’m not a big fan of buying on the internet. Coincidentally, I’ll be popping into Linens ‘n Things later this week and will take a look for them. As for Customs, from watching the video in the link, I would think it would look pretty clear that there are only clothes in the bag. Knowing my luck, having never been stopped by Customs, this would be the time for me ;D ;D

I have also seen these bags at Walmart in the luggage section. Regarding it would look pretty clear there are just clothes in the bags – contraband could also be between layers of clothing.
