Vegemite! ??????????? | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

This has to be one of the most unusual requests I have ever received from someone wanting me to bring to them in another Country.

I have been asked to bring Vegemite with me to Honduras for a person that works there.

I goggled Vegemite and I have found that it is imported by Kraft Australia, but I have not been able to locate any.

Too funny………. Every store I go to and whoever I ask looks at me as if I have two heads.

I was hoping that someone has seen it in the International section of their grocery store or somewhere else during their travels. If I had more notice I could try to order some over the internet and have it shipped to me but I am running out of time. I leave Friday for Honduras.

I live in the London, Ontario area, so if anyone has any ideas about where I can purchase some in my area please let me know.

wossa Guest Hola Freedom……..

Checking out a ‘vegemite forum’ (true) some of the posters were saying that it is no longer imported into Canada, so maybe thats why you are having problems getting hold of it ?? It is alledgedly banned in the US due to a Vitamin B additive……who knows…so maybe that will make it harder for you to get hold of too !!…

Have no fear…… ;)….I have had some jars of Vegemite flown over from the UK direct to the Reef House and (the only advantage of working for a logistics company) and it will be with you next Monday………providing Customs are not Vegemite addicts and confiscate the shipment………

Happy holidays……..happy diving…..Keep the faith and I will see you soon.Wossa……………………… ;D

You ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks a million for locating Vegemite for me and shipping it straight to Honduras. They will love you for it Wossy!

I was going to be heading out soon to hunt for Vegemite again today. You have saved me the exhaustion of looking for it and explaining what exactly it is to people that are laughing and asking me if Vegemite is real.

Of course most Canadians have heard of Vegemite, in a song…………. but no one seems to know what it is, jejejeje. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Now that I have located Hickory sticks, and Crocs and you have located the Vegemite, I can finally finish packing today.

I am counting the days until I see you again. I owe you a big kiss for this my special friend!

See you soon…………..

Hey GambittThanks, but I am not looking for Vegemite any longer and this pleases me. ;). Wossa located some Vegemite and shipped it directly to the "Reef House" in Honduras but it still had not arrived by the time we left the resort.Apparently, things take months to arrive there and often never do. A magazine that was dated August arrived at the resort in February.I hear the Vegemite looks like a greasy black ‘tar like’ substance but I have never seen it nor have I tasted it. It sounds like something that I would not want to taste either. ;D ;D ;D ;D

The person the Vegemite was being sent to in Honduras is originally from Australia and said Vegemite is to ‘die for’. He absolutely loves it!.

He explained that in Canada most of our children grow up loving peanut butter sandwiches and in Australia their kids grow up loving Vegemite sandwiches. So, without tasting it I have decided that I will stick to the peanut butter and let him have the Vegemite. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I may be brave and purchase a jar of Marmite just to check it out.

Hey WosYou are too funny!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;DI will try to hunt down some Marmite here in Canada so you don’t have to drag it all the way over from the UK.You can have your "Rosie Lee" and I will enjoy my "815".

If I don’t like the Marmite then I will switch to Peanut Butter.

Any ideas where I can find some Marmite anyone?.

wossa Guest Hey Sher………

I forgot to say that it has to be served in bed too…….

It’s an English tradition…..honest ::)……and who are are we to break from tradition……..’when in Rome’……..

Thanks for the list of shops Gambitt !!See you soon Freedom

Wossa……………….. ;D

Wow Wos………….You "Brits" sure are asking for a lot from us "Canadians"! ;D ;D ;DI will go out tomorrow and see if I can find any Marmite from the list of stores Gambitt provided.

I will also speak to "Maggie" and see if she does not mind waiting on you and serving you breakfast in Bed.

I am glad the "Brit" in my house has been Canadianized and gets his own breakfast.

Good news, looks like our ‘Vegemite Aid’ has reached Honduras !!

Here is a mail I received from a happy Australian this afternoon..

I hope the kid don’t blame me for being force fed Vegemite and cheese sandwiches in later life !

Wazza, Today I received my Vegemite…Yay! I don’t know how you did it mate but I got it and I’m a very happy Auzzie, I can now feed my 16 month old some of Australia’s finest "Vegemite & cheese sandwiches". It was very nice of you to go to all that trouble for someone you have never met. Sherry was a lot of fun and we hope we see her back soon. I am very grateful, and if you ever make it down this way I’ll take you diving. Thanks again Mate, Bazz

Hey Gambitt

OMG…………………

I can think of a few more descriptive words than YUCKY!!!!!!!!!! for Marmite!

Last night I seen BigJohn at work and guess what he had in his napsack.

Marmite and crackers! He got me to taste some Marmite and OMG it was nasty.

I swear, I think I can still taste that nasty stuff right now. I know it is not very lady like but I actually had to spit it out and then rinse my mouth out with water.

Hey Wos

Awesome that the Vegemite has finally showed up in Honduras. I bet Customs nipped a jar and when they tasted it sent the rest of the shipment straight to the "Reef House".

If that Vegemite tastes anything like the Marmite I tried then I am sure that child will never forget the day his Daddy gave him that ‘Vegemite Sandwich’.

Is the cheese suppose to hide the taste of the Vegemite?.

I went out and bought some Marmite at Price Chopper for you. Some one must eat it as the shelves we fully stocked and there was another full box waiting to be put out!I refuse to put it in my mouth again so it looks like you will be enjoying your Marmite with BigJohn. ;D ;D ;D

I will definitely stick to my peanut butter . You and BigJohn can have the Marmite.

It definitely is an acquired taste…………
