We are heading to Bahia Principe Coba in 8 days. Should we bring watershoes? I have only ever been to the Dominican and never bring them.My hubby and I love to just hang out in the water and play in the waves.
Can’t wait |

pc galWe were there last Feb GBP (Akumal) and the beach at the GBP Coba is better than the Akumal… In my opinion they are not required as long as you stay within the safe area… if you venture outside that area, instead of water shoes, I would opt for an old pair of running shoes as the rocks are quite sharp…if you get a chance to visit "Akumal beach" (It’s a public beach) just a short cab ride from GBP, you will have the chance to swim with turtles… so don’t forget your mask and snorkel.Enjoy your trip

![]() Can’t wait We all picture frolicking, barefoot, in the waves and walking barefoot on the beach but my husband and I don’t do it for safety reasons. You just don’t know what might be buried just below the surface. We take water shoes with us but, more often, use the Croc type shoes at the beach as they are easy to slip on and comfortable for walking the beach and no problem getting them wet. Most water shoes are so light and comfy, you don’t notice them and they give you a measure of security if you are hanging out in the water. |

I second the use of the Croc. Great for floating as well! They weigh nothing and dry quickly. |

I have seen jellyfish almost buried in the sand and shuttered thinking of someone stepping on them. There is also glass tossed up onshore from the ocean that cannot always be easily noticed. Plus, there is the possibility of contracting Hep B from a person having it stubbing their toe, and your picking up their infected blood. I know that the last one is highly improbable but it gives one pause. Because of these reasons, I usually wear Crocs while walking on the beach. If not, I walk in the water hitting shore, and keep a keen out out! |

Phil,I will definitely post a review. I have my crocs packed as well as water shoes. I love my crocs cause they are so comfy. I have several pairs and even use a pair at home for slippers. Bet slippers ever and you can wash them in a minute.
Only 1 1/2 more sleeps ( I don’t count Wednesday nights sleep as a full one as we have to leave the house at 1:10 to do several pick ups and be at the airport for 3:00 am Woot Woot |
