My wife and I are looking at booking a week-long stay at an all-inclusive resort (4-star preferred). We are going in the third week of February (firm). We were initially looking at only Mexico but are now quite open to other Caribbean options. Some people have told us that you have to book far in advance and should be booking now. Others have told us that the time to get the best price is about three weeks before. No one that we’ve talked to has gone in that particular week, though. I would prefer to wait for the three-week-before point but not if it’s a bad mistake. Any ideas? |

![]() We found our particular resort at a fabulous price last year in October for an April departure. We checked it constantly and it really didn’t ever come down any lower. We got really lucky! We’re hoping the same will hold true this October. Just keep checking. Some folks say there won’t be the deals we have seen in past years but I still think there will be some.Find a destination / resort you are interested in and keep checking the prices. Hope some of this helps. Good luck! |

Welcome to Debbie’s, iamcarlo.Depends a lot on your personalities and preferences. As suj says, find a place you like and book it when the price is what you like …. Or wait ’till the last couple of days and take a Sell-Off price to a new place and see how it works out.Up to this year, 3 weeks was okay but I don’t see as many choices/flights and I’m not seeing the deals yet. Cuba is a great place for a holiday. You won’t regret it.I’ll look forward to your resort review, when you guys get back.
You didn’t say where you would fly from but I’m guessing you want a direct flight from a tour company to get a better price? |

Looks like the game this season is to try to fill the plane early by offering some slant on price protection. Boils down to this: If the charter is only half full a couple of months before departure expect a price drop then, if the charter is close to full, they won’t drop the price until the price protection runs out, 29 days before departure. That way they don’t have to "protect" anybody. |
