where to stay?? | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

Hi… I’m looking into all inclusive trips to Nassau/Paradise Island. I’m looking for a resort that has the following:1. beautiful white sand and crystal clear turquoise waters (beach is a must with watersports).2. wonderful a la carte restaurants without limitations.3. close proximity to airport (within half an hour).Anyone have any advice??? Thinking of going in either October or February.

Thanks!!!

My very first all-inclusive holiday was a four day stay at the Radisson Cable Beach. I thought it was alright, but very expensive considering what you got.The hotel – lobby is beautiful, but the rooms are somewhat rundown and in need of a freshing up(we were there in December 2001). Beds are very comfortable, but our AC did not work very well…there was always a nice breeze off the ocean and being on the eight floor, we just left the balcony door open all night. Pools were a bit cold…they had had a hurricane 3 weeks previous to our stay and I think all the water in the pools had to be replaced because of salt water contamination. The beach was beautiful white sand, but the ocean was rough with quite an undercurrent and very stirred up.

The ala carte restaurants were all excellent, the buffet was standard breakfast fare, and our lunch was always at the beach hut…burgers, fries, and deep-fried conch. Drinks were always good…no wristbands, but you always had to sign for everything. We did a last minute for $899 for the four days…little did I know there were much better bargains available elsewhere. I think once the Riu hotels get their property up and running, pricing will be become more reasonable at all the properties in the Bahama’s. Sorry I can’t remember more details.

Thanks Buckybruce.
The only 2 places I’ve been to are Cancun and Punta Cana. I absolutely loved Cancun but didn’t really like the beach and ocean in Punta Cana (there was a bit of seagrass and the water wasn’t as clear or turqoise). I was hoping to expand my repertoire and go someplace new. Most of the places seem expensive and the only 2 that seemed "reasonable" (price-wise) were Jamaica and Bahamas. Between the 2 I didn’t know which one had the better beach and ocean. That’s kind of the only thing I care for. Thanks for your input…

We stayed at Breezes, Cable Beach. It is an all-inclusive resort. It was VERY expensive compared to the deals you can get to Mexico and Cuba. This resort is not far from the town of Nassau on New Providence Island (one of the main islands in the Bahamas). It’s close to the airport too. Everything is within half an hour.It is a very nice resort although the rooms are just so-so. They need updating! The beach was beautiful and there are lots of water sports and activities available. There is only a buffet at this resort but the food was excellent! You could always eat in town or at other resorts nearby if you needed a la carte.

We were there for 4 days a couple of years ago, but we’ve heard from friends that it hasn’t changed since we were there. Apparently there is recent hurricane damage so I don’t think you can book it at the moment.

Iramuk: we have tentative plans to go to the Riu Paradise Island in April 2005, if we go, I’ll give you my comments on this property. we only plan to go for 3 nights.

hatecoldweather if you do go to Riu Paradise Island could you post a review? Thanks!
