I noticed we haven’t had many new reviews posted this year. The last appears to be from June 2017. Is there a problem with that part of the site? Anyway I submitted one a week or so ago and hope others do the same to keep this place active and interesting.

I don’t care for the format; too controlling. In other words I write my reviews in the moment and the way I see things and I don’t want to be dictated to as to how they are to be done; not like I am being paid to do it. Believe me I mean no offense by being blunt like this, you asked a question and this is my feedback.

I agree. The last review I wrote, I used one of the conventional text editors. Can’t remember which one (Word, Wordpad, Notepad …). Then I had to cut and paste bits and pieces of that just to fit into the template. To put it lightly, that was a pain in the butt. I liked it better in the good old days when I just emailed the text I had written and it got reviewed and published. Not that the other guys were any easier. They nit picked over what I had written and at one point were insisting that I write two reviews, one for the hotel and one for the restaurant. Duh, the review was for an AI property so that made zero sense.

Checked Admin’s profile, he/she has not been on since August. At least the software seems to maintain itself.

Well, the moderators have been doing their job. A number of spam postings have been removed on your behalf. And, I think admin is logging on under a different user name. I have a suspicion who it is and have asked them, but never got an answer. If they prefer to remain nameless that’s fine by me. But I’m pretty sure admin has been around. In one form or another. But I can’t explain why new reviews aren’t being posted …

Posting a review proves to be a real dilemma for some of us who are frequent visitors.

There are those who have been to a place once, find it great, and believe they must tell the world about it. They are never concerned that a few of them can begin a spiral where the place becomes too popular and loses the appeal that originally excited them. After all, many of them will not return.

Then there are those of us who spend the time and effort to discover those great places that no one else has. The last thing we want is to have the masses of tourists read our review then arrive to make it hard to get in, prices to go up, and service go down. That has happened to me too many times over the years in Cuba. Then we must be off on the search again to find those new undiscovered great places while everybody is waiting in line for our previous favorite places.

As usual you have made a great point. The thing is when key staff at a hotel know you are a reviewer they then to treat you better and give certain perks and or, if there is an issue and they know you are going to talk about it, they will do their best to resolve it and shut you up. Just being really honest here. Bottom line some people can throw money at a problem, while others have to basically work harder to resolve it. Life is not equal or balanced at all:sweat_smile:

Stumbled across this site…man, i miss how much better it used to be.

Went downhill to nothing after the change…but its kinda nice to go back and look at some old threads from over a decade ago.

It was a fun site and i visited daily at the time…was a nice community here at that time.

Agree this site is very quiet, perhaps many people are so burnt out from TA and are watching to see how things go here. With all this sitting back and watching, well no one is getting up to dance…………lol.
