Cell phone use in cuba | Debbie's Caribbean Resort Reviews Forums

Is it like other countries where you can find inexpensive sim cards for unlocked phones and get a pre-paid short term plan?

I can’t imagine what it will cost me to use Rogers.

No it is not! The best option is to buy travel pack with your cell phone provider!

No inexpensive SIM cards available.Rogers used to exclude Cuba on the their international plans, Telus (for once) works like a charm.Cheers,

My cellphone goes with me but I use it only twice. Day 1 I txt the boys "We are safe". On the last day I txt "Don’t forget to come and pick us up!"

My work email is connected to my phone…. there’s no yakity-yak on my vacation….

do you know how much it cost for a SIM card in Cuba….I am taking a few used blackberrys for friends down there.

A SIM for a foreigner is very expensive, about 3 CUC/day with a 40 day minimum the last I checked. Maybe that has changed. For a Cuban to get a cell line it’s not very expensive, last winter they were selling numbers for 40 CUC including 60 minutes of talk and a brand new Nokia cellphone.Cheers,

Telus does have the best prices for roaming in Cuba. Others now provide plans as well and if you plan to use cell phone in Cuba the best way is to buy travel pack from your cell company before your go on your vacation.
