Does anyone vacation in Cuba in the late spring or summer, it must be quiet and very hot. I talked to a guy who just got back from Mexico last night. We were talking about Mexico and the dangers, and he said he was fine, he just stayed on the resort, I didn’t say this to him but seriously, if your just going to stay on the resort, what’s the point of going at this time of year, unless of course you live in Nunavut
I have thought about going in the summer as well. I know that in the winter, obviously the BIG draw is the warmer temps.However, for what I would spend for a week in Cuba, I couldnt go away for 2 nights here in North America for a vacation. So when you look at it that way….

That being said, I am guessing the resorts wouldn’t be very busy, and I dont see any great deals in the summer which kinda surpirses me. Yes demand is down onviously, but…..
The latest I have gone in spring is May. My husband has gone in June. Stinking hot, for sure, but a far better beach, IMO, than any you will find in Canada, and cheaper for a week than a weekend at home, so why not?

I also travel in the fall. September and October can be dirt cheap, and decent weather unless you encounter a hurricane. I prefer to book last minute in the fall for that reason.

We will be leaving August 21 for our fourth Caribbean (3 to Cuba) summer trip. Definitely Stinkin’ Hot! But we love the fact that the hotels are virtually empty. Our favorite, Marea del Portillo, is really different in the summer than it is in January. It is really a neat experience to see both aspects. We also enjoy spending time with Cubans enjoying their summer holidays along side us!

The previous posters are also correct – can’t go to Toronto for a weekend for what we can go to Cuba for in August.
We went the last week of June a few years ago – yes, it was quiet and very hot and more mosquitos.Last year, we went the first week of June – yes, it was quiet and hot, but not as hot as later in the month.This year, we are going the last week of June because it’s the only time we can get both our sons together to go with us. As long as you’re not going to play tennis or golf in particular, and learn to move Cuban speed, it’s great! We love the extra attention from the staff because they’re not as busy (and the tip potential is more limited, I suppose). Sometimes the a la carte restaurants are not all running and the entertainment is a little lower key, but on the whole I prefer late spring-early summer to the madding crowd in February.

Oh yeah, and there are some great prices! We paid $407 for the Playa Turquesa in Holguin, first week of June last year. Hard to beat for a four star!
Cuba in the summer is extremly hot and humid….but i would do it again. I went last July….got a great deal i couldn’t say no to. Besides to rent a cottage up north, gas to get there, booze, food….this was alot cheaper….and no work for me. How could i say no. I am actually considering doing it again this July with some girlfriends. Besides you can’t the ocean here and that is one of the main reasons i go….besides loving Cuba.

The hottest time I’ve been to Cuba is the end of May. I’d go again, any time in the summer, in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, ity would have to be stag because Wifey found the May heat unbearable so later would be out for sure.
The heat and humidity can be oppressive. But we must do what we must do. I’ll be heading to Havana in the second half of June. The price was right $421 Cubana/Hotel Habana Paseo.

Just back from Holguin on May 27 – it is hot and humid, and you are likely to get more rain. I can’t imagine the heat in July or August.
Moving at Cuban speed is the key – I now have a complete understanding of why it is that Cubans "stroll slowly" everywhere. My amiga’s son explained it to me – he rides his bike 15km each say to school every day. If he rides his bike fast , then his school uniform gets all sweaty and smelly and he has to wear them all day – so if he slows down, his shirt stays nice longer. The same is true for the ladies who always seem to be "strolling slowly". And here we just thought they didn’t care how long it took to get somewhere!

LOL, I can relate. We did an overnighter to Havana, this past Feb. and it was in the low 30C and somewhat humid but nothing like the summer. We walked for hours around Old Havana and after a few hours were really starting to drag our butts On the upside, got to try out a few new watering holes ;D ;D. No way could we handle what we did in the summertime.

At home, I’m a fast walker; in Havana….not so much!

I did the same in Havana in late Feb. I can’t imagine how hot that place must be in July, it was around 30 when we were there and I couldn’t wait to get into The Floridita for a couple Crystals on ice in a bottle mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I saw on Sunwing today that June 12, one week Marea Del Portillo was EIGHTY NINE BUCKS with 280 taxes, from Toronto. Insane price!

If anyone wants to go down and report on the heat and sun, I’d be all ears!

Wish I had holidays in the bank (or retired!) I would jump all over that …got to keep them for the fall trips MH and DH and down south and winter trips!
Hey everybody…. I am still alive!!!! One word of caution for summer time in Cuba. I went down with a cheap pair of running shoes and I literally cooked my feet on the hot sidewalks. It was so bad I could hardly walk onto the plane home and the bottoms of my feet peeled like a sunburn. From then on, I wear good walking shoes and heavy socks with LOTS of baby powder on them. Learned my lesson the hard way. Oh ya… and I do my walking early in the morning and after the sun goes down. Don’t forget the SPF 100… I am not kidding!!!!

PS. I love Cuba in the summer and will be back down at the end of August.

What do you mean on topic, I started the thread, and threads grow, and I was happy with the way it went, you want to start a topic, fine go ahead, but unless there is a problem with talking about Cuba that I don’t know about, leave it alone, and another thing, I don’t appreciate being censored, this is Canada I’m typing in, not Cuba

You weren’t censored. I fail to see that discussion about the murder rate in Mexico has anything to do with "summer in Cuba". About reply 12 or 13, as I recall, the thread was hijacked, contrary to our posted rules. She deleted those posts, as well she should have. That discussion belonged in another thread and would have stayed there under those conditions.
